Can you lose weight if you don't exercise?

(Empress of the Unexpected) #81

The keto diet preserves muscle and bone.

(Running from stupidity) #82

Only every day, along with all the housework, and shopping, and so on, but facts aren’t relevant to trolls

It’s an entirely convenient trigger.

I’m not sure I agree with you.

Well, that’s unusual!

I think it is more abusive behavior and name-calling.

That’s usually in there as well, but dealing with the root cause sorts that out.

Which causes the person to quit.

No, it’s usually not related. Certainly wasn’t in the one the other week.

There are no winners, just participation trophies for all!

You are one witty dude!

(Running from stupidity) #84

That, or #1 forum troll.

or both

The same day our last troll is let out of prison, this one appears. Seems like a weird coincidence, but makes little sense either way.

I’ve seen arguments on both sides of that. I am over 60, and we tend to lose muscle mass with age, so I choose to err on the side of exercising rather than being sedentary.

(Empress of the Unexpected) #86

Can my cat meet up with your cat?

#87

I lost 60 pounds in 3 months without going to a gym once

(Consensus is Politics) #88

Beleive it or not, I don’t really spend a lot of time in the forums. That’s of course relative to other things, like sleeping, gaming, cooking, eating. Actual order/priority varies constantly. So I missed out on this. I usually pick up on them right away. Kinda like Radar O’riley on MASH when choppers are incoming. :sunglasses:

Merry Christmas everybody.

FFS can you not just play nice?

@b6843cc1d19b74bc4072 try making your point in a non-inflammatory manner. Like it or not, your tone smacks of a certain type of ketonian who cruises around looking for trouble. Behind your snide comments there are some valid points and exercise is good for health and wellbeing - as long as the individual can find something they enjoy and can physically do of course. Throwing terms around like “couch potato” is not helpful. Try making the point you want to without also having a dig at people - you might get received a little better. Telling people that you effectively can’t be bothered with the forum and are so wise, yada yada, doesn’t help either. And, yes, I am adopting a sarcastic tone. Be nice, communicate like an adult with respect for your fellow forum members or bugger off. Simple!

@juice stop fanning the flames and kicking off arguments. Do not for one minute try to tell me that you weren’t either. This is your MO pretty well every time and it is not cool either. If you think someone is a troll then take it up with an admin rather than dancing around poking the bear.

Quit letting this thread slide into yet another childish fight or I’ll close it and delete all the nonsense.

I wouldn’t say we’re all here to lose weight - avoiding metabolic syndrome and early death avoidance interest me more.

I don’t do much exercise beyond walking the dog at his prefered (stop and sniff everything) pace.

Lost 11kbs last month.

I take the question seriously - old and very heavy people can’t just go for a jolly jog …

(Running from stupidity) #91

Yeah, it was me. I turned up, joined, and had four minutes of read time before making claims that people on here were against exercise, in exactly the same way as the last couple of trolls. Yep, that was me alright, kicking things off.

#92

You fanned the flames instead of dousing them, just like you always do. Cut it out.

(Richard Morris) #93

I support @Daisy in this.

There are tens of thousands of people who are members of the forum who never post. These people just look for advice in the forums to reverse their type 2 diabetes.

If a couple of people are going to make the forum an arena for ad hominem “blood sport” then that animus will turn off a lot of nice people. We’ll never hear from them. They’'ll show up one day see a bunch of ad hominem BS and decide that they would rather go to a forum on FB that will pitch them exogenous ketones and project dysmorphic body images upon them that will have them failing to reverse their diabetes because they don’t meet some body fat target from some anorexic special snowflake.

Sorry guys, I’m late to the story, but that’s been my life lately.

@xScarlet Where are you, when we need you? Attack!

Are you asking a question, or making a statement, because I don’t understand what you just said.

No, you don’t need to be on the forum all day to make a valid point, but you do have to make a valid point for it to be valid. Still don’t understand what you’re saying. You’re not even addressing the OP’s original question.

Okay, so why can’t I pronounce your user name?

No, when someone with an unpronounceable user name makes an unnecessary comment, that doesn’t even address the OP’s question, and then proceeds to argue with the other members, that makes them a troll.

People, this comment was made by a person who really doesn’t read this forum, otherwise they’d know @juice gets lots of exercise.

You don’t need to tell us this, because we can look at your activity and see that (at the time of this writing) you’ve been here two days and have a total of two hours read time, and this is the only thread you’ve commented on.

That’s odd given you’ve only joined two days ago, unless you’ve been on the forum under another account. Then I have to ask, why create a new account with a gibberish user name?

Okay, finally a point. Thank you.

But you’re missing the point. The OP asked if they could lose weight without exercise, and the answer is a resounding YES!

We are not saying exercise isn’t good, but that you are able to lose weight with the ketogenic diet without exercise.

I’m not going to be as gracious as @Daisy was. I’m calling BS on your comments, because your account was created only two days ago, and the ONLY participation you’ve had has been confrontational.

There is a way to disagree with others in a civil manner, but that IS NOT what you’ve done here.

Come back with a pronounceable user name, some actual read time on this forum, and a little more civility, then I’ll listen to what you have to say.

Until then, we really are here to help each other, and we really do care about each other’s health, not just whether or not they’re exercising.

Okay, that’s all I’m gonna feed this troll.

(Empress of the Unexpected) #95

No exercise for a month (previous was light weights and walking). Suddenly down to 110.1 pounds with meat only for a few days. Lowest weight in 20 years. Exercise is good for your health, but you can lose any amount of weight without it. Keto works.

(b6843cc1d19b74bc4072) #96

I sent daisy a message and told her my account changed when I added some things to my profile. She spoke with a tech and I somehow hit the anonymous button. My original response was torsotrainer then it showed up differently. I have been here for awhile, liked and commented, started around 5 or 6 months ago. Go ahead and call BS on anything you want. I do not need to spend time on a forum playing games. I had to log back into the anonymous profile to respond here. Under this long username. I will stay logged into the torsotrainer account. I received this alert with the title with the headline “i’m managing my diabetes with diet.”

Not that I need to prove anything, but I was concerned my self why my profile did not show my history.

(Empress of the Unexpected) #97

@anon54735292 As you know I was thin my whole life, as a kid, due to a congenital heart condition. When I visited my mom from college, she always said I needed five more pounds. Especially in my face. She was a great cartoonist and once drew me as a pair of pliers. I think we are there again. I need to gain weight!

(Consensus is Politics) #98

I apologize if my topics or comments have incited belligerent behavior. I honestly did not intend, or even think it would go like this. I’m also assuming you are referring to much more than this thread.

I may get get stubborn, I might push an intentional button. But when I do it’s to make a point and drive it home. Quite often when someone makes an argument against something, someone else needs to point out where logic has failed, and that they are not thinking of facts, but more with their opinions. That was me 30 some years ago. I learned a lot back then, and always try to see the truth in things regardless of what I think about that truth. Whether I like it or not, truth is truth.

If I come off as rude, or trolling, do tell me. It’s not intended. Although I’ve been a tech guy my whole life, I’ve not been a social media advocate or user. I’ve avoided Facebook, Twitter, et. al. The occasional tech forum would be it. The worse conflicts on those forums was usually the Apple II guys versus the Commodore guys.

#99

Well thank you for that explanation.

I still stand my most of my comments. Still didn’t address the OP’s original question, and I really didn’t see any point to your comments on this thread.

If you want to start a thread on the benefits of exercise, I’ll be happy to read it.

Exercise :rofl::rofl: Seriously! Find a type that increases appetite. For me it’s usually cardio in the fresh air. Weight training can kill my appetite so I find I need a mix of both to increase muscle/weight.
