A women in my former parish who lived to be 108 or 109 attributed her longevity to the fact that she had never fallen and the fact that she had never fallen to the amount of time she spent exercising on her treadmill. She estimated that she had covered enough mileage to make it to the moon and back, twice. I don’t know what her diet was, but the last time I talked to her was a few years ago, when she was only 105 or so, and it’s too late to ask now. She was a real hoot, and at 105 was still as sharp as a tack. My mother at 88 was in nowhere near as good shape.
Can you lose weight if you don't exercise?
Apparently, we are all wrong. The secret to longevity is Dr. Pepper. Elizabeth Sullivan, 104, says:
"I started drinking 'em about 40 years ago, three a day," Sullivan shared with Dallas-Fort Worth’s local CBS affiliateOpens a New Window. on Wednesday. "Every doctor that sees me says it’ll kill you, but they die and I don’t. So there must be a mistake somewhere."
Then there was that 132-year-old woman in southern France who lived on red wine and cigarettes . . .
I lost 140 pounds in 11 months, (25 more since) and didn’t begin ANY exercise regime at all until my weight loss journey was nearly complete.
My Doctor who is KETO Friendly says, “Fat Loss is done in he kitchen…NOT the gym.”
I now do resistance training and really like it. But it didn’t have ANYTHING to do with burning fat in my particular case, not even maybe.
I lost 20 pounds without any real activity other than walking. I am now doing resistance training to build up more muscle.
My ex-girlfriends grandfather was in the newspaper in Manila in the 1950’s. He was getting married for the nth time, at the ripe age of 121 yrs. the article went on how he was in the war with Spain. How he joined the army under General-Governor Carlos Maria de la Torre in the late 1860’s. It took me a few minutes to let that soak in. Her grandfather had enlisted about 100 years before I was born .
She said he died at 134 years while working the farm. He was pulling cassava roots from the ground, and died.
Lost 60 lbs so far on keto no exercise. I’m not a couch potato or anything but I don’t go to the gym either.
“Louis Newburgh of the University of Michigan calculated that a 250-pound man expends only three calories climbing a flight of stairs—the equivalent of depriving himself of a quarter-teaspoon of sugar or a hundredth of an ounce of butter. “He will have to climb twenty flights of stairs to rid himself of the energy contained in one slice of bread!” Newburgh observed. So why not skip the stairs, skip the bread, and call it a day?”

You can loose weight for sure without exercise. You probably will also have a lot of loose hanging skin. Exercise for heart and health benefits and to attain muscle tissue. We loose muscle tissue as we age. Why go through a weight loss program only to be afraid to walk the beach in a swim suit.
Because the OP who asked the question is 67 years old with health issues she is hoping keto will help/improve/eliminate. I doubt walking on the beach in a swim suit is very high on her list of priorities. But I could be wrong!
And autophagy and collagen supplements have done way more for my loose skin than exercising ever has. I think exercise is healthy but not very helpful for weight loss and loose skin when you are a female over 60 years old.
A lot of posts on here stating I don’t exercise! A Keto diet for most is to loose weight but it seems like on this forum exercise is not much of a topic. Ok so what about the commenters!
Thanks for that forum summary after your four-minute read time and one topic visited. #trollalert
No not a troll at all. My dad had diabetes and I probably would also if I had a lousy diet all my life and didn’t exercise. You may want to spend more time being physically active rather than spending all day on a keto forum. I happen to see things differently than you. But I am 64 and do not live by one particular lifestyle. Check with your doc to find out how much exercise helps diabetes. I do not need to sit here and post all day to have a valid post. #couchpotatoalert
If people don’t like how I look at the beach then they can
bloody
well quit looking at me #problemsolved
Yeah, this posting style is totally unlike the other troll posters who just happen to have recently joined. You can change your username by creating a new account but the posting style remains obvious.
You need wake up. There is no mystery posting here. Someone states exercise and now they are a troll. Obviously exercise is not in your life, but sitting on a forum all day acting like keto police know it all is. Amazing people can be so one dimensional to think speaking about exercise and consulting a doctor is a troll.
You need shut up.
You also need thinking and reading comprehension.
I really hate that the devs of this software don’t allow you to block idiots, despite many many requests to do so.
