Can you ever lose the taste for sugar?

I’ve never drunk diet sodas PK, but now I find that I need to taste something sweet daily.

My mouth tastes dry and dirty without… something.

I try to keep berries on hand, but sometimes I’m caught without any.

I’m disturbed by the diet soda habit.

Apparently, salt is the key to breaking sugar craving.

OMG!! Elaborate?

Ask a bunch of ex-smokers if they ever lose their taste for cigarettes. You’ll get a lot of different answers. Some lose their taste for it and would find tasting it again to be very offensive. But you will find others that may not have had a cigarette for 30 years that crave them every single day of their lives. (I knew such a person, he was a sort of stand-in for my grandfather.)

I doubt it’s that much different with sugar. But that’s just an opinion…

The salt is helping.

How could I have forgotten?

Dry mouths need the salt

Absolutely. I cannot stand sugary things now. If I even have a sip of my son’s apple juice, I wince! I do make some “sweet” desserts on occasion, but it’s really not that sweet from the little swerve I use.

Try to use mouthwash?

At least for some reason, I bought a mouthwash that tasted sweet… <_<

Sweet things taste nasty to me.

I have always had a sweet tooth, and any time someone said “that dessert is too sweet for me” I laughed at them. There was no such thing to me.

After 18 months Keto I can honestly say the hardcore cravings are gone. Do I miss traditional sugary treats? Sometimes. But I have realized something.

My sweet tooth is a bitch, and she is trying to kill me.

OK, now we’re going to have to create a “quotable quotes” thread somewhere for lines like this.

Other thing… when I started I was using a ketoade daily… grape SF koolaid + salt + no salt.

Turned into a GNARLY addiction, PLUS bladder irritation. But without this habit, I’m forgetting my salt… any better Ketoade recipes?

I like to add salt to my water, with coconut oil and lemon. I use a around a half a lemon squeeze it and through it in the water(hot). I add around 1/2 teaspon of salt to 32 oz of water, and I will through a cube coconut oil in that. Sometimes I add MIO to sometimes I don’t I don’t react to the MIO. If I taste the salt its a little to strong, I drink some and add more water. I build the 2.5 carbs into my day every day. If I am feeling really good I add some soda stream water to it to give a fizzy bubbly effect. I add water all day long to the lemons.
