Calluses

(Don) #1

I know this is probably a weird topic of discussion…but, I want to bring something up. I have had some really thick calluses for as long as I can remember. But the bast 10 years or so these calluses have really become worse. To make matters worse, the calluses on my heels get cracked and jagged. I have been known to shred 1000 thread count Pima cotton sheets…needless to say the wife wasn’t happy and I now wear socks to bed.

I noticed the other day that the cracks in my heels are almost gone and the calluses on my heels are MUCH thinner. It seems to me that my body is taking care of things and that it is quite possible that the thick calluses were a symptom of my insulin resistance.

I have been doing keto for two and half months now and I go to get my blood work done in a couple of weeks (I got my labs done as well just before I started keto). I have lost more than 40 pounds and if I have to guess…all my markers of health are going in the right direction. I was diagnosed with metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance, hypertension, non alcoholic fatty liver disease, and some bad cholesterol. I have read when people with insulin resistance go on keto and get healthy that skin tags often go away. I was wondering if this is much the same thing.

Again, I know this is a weird topic…but just curious.

Don…

Interesting! I’m no expert, but I would say that the increase in fats in your diet is doing your skin a world of wonder!

I don’t think anything is too weird for this forum, that’s part of what makes it so cool.

I have no idea on your question, but I’m hoping my wife’s feet do the same as yours. Her’s are like 60 grit sand paper…I guess I should be careful. She’s two weeks into keto and on the forums now.

I wish your wife all the best! You are right though…not sure if there is a topic that is too weird for this forum.

YES!!!
I have noticed that too!
Weird

Well…maybe it’s not as weird as I thought!

Possible B3 deficiency?

Skin definitely improves under keto - tightness, glow, etc.

Fatty meat provides more glycine, autophagy scavenges useless cells, inflammation reduces, hormones rebalance. All could contribute to your improvement.

TMI but you brought in up haha @dangerousdon my feet, hands, nails generally are in better shape. This encouraged me to up the healing by taking better care of them I.e. in the bathtub! Funny how overall better health manifests itself.
