Calling all bellies!

I wonder about my belly too. I’m skinny with curves, but my belly doesn’t seem healthy.

I have IBS so I can’t work out whether it’s bloating/ inflammation or visceral tummy fat (both are unhealthy).

If I do an extended fast of 2 weeks, it goes away and I have my flat teenager tummy from 25 years ago again.

Again, not sure if that’s the fat being burned or the bloating/ inflammation going down or both.

I had hoped for the same effect on keto, but it’s not happened so far (I think I’m about 12 weeks in now? stopped counting…)

I’m totally guessing here, but according to Dr. Berg that shape indicates some liver congestion. Perhaps add milk thistle or another liver cleanser to your regimen and see if something happens.

Gonna have to keep loosing, at SOME point fat burn may get it but that’s typically the LAST to go, what’s your current BF%? Until you start getting in the lower numbers it’ll probably sit there and laugh at you, good ol’ belly fat! First time I lost all my weight I had to go about 20lbs below where I wanted to be (but was still within normal for my build) to get it off. I was able to put that weight back on without it collecting there but to get it, it took that. Especially when it’s the light less dense “airy” fat. On the muscle front, obviously ab exercises help build muscle there, which can lessen how it looks fat wise, but won’t target fat burn in that area sadly. In either case ALWAYS go for muscle building, that helps the metabolism in huge ways.

I do ab work, and can feel the muscles underneath the fat!

Pretty sure for most of us, belly fat is a FILO (first in, last out) model. It certainly is on me! Can’t wait for the last of my belly and “love handles” to be gone. Nothing we can really do, but just keep whittling down the fat content of our bodies. It will eventually come off, provided we get our body fat % low enough.

Adding muscle (anywhere) will only help, as you’ll increase your metabolism, burning fat faster.

Yes, I’m all for muscle!

Ah menopause…the gift that just keeps on giving. I am headed there soon if not there already.

I was just googling about losing more weight in the belly area (lost many inches in hips/thighs etc but belly is the slowest)…I read something that said 2tablespoons ACV in water on an empty stomach every day should help.

I will try that, thanks.
