Caffeine, but no coffee

#1

Hello folks - I do not drink coffee, I really dislike the flavor.

Tonight I have an unusual overnight shift in a very safety sensitive position. I will start at 6pm and work till 5am. When I return at 5am it is important that I get to sleep as I will have to work again at 9pm, but just for a couple hours, however being able to rest when I get back is important. I expect to do this type of shift once or so every other month. It could be as much as 2 a month though.

Other than a cup of green tea in the morning, I don’t drink caffeine and occasional iced tea at lunch. Unfortunately there will not be a safe source of hot water for tea. I am a little sensitive to caffeine and typically if I have an iced tea after 3pm I end up having a hard time falling asleep at a normal time that night.

Prior to keto when I would have to do this I would use Diet Coke to get me through and it was fairly effective. Now I am worried about the sweeteners in DC.

Is there a store bought caffeinated beverage that you could recommend? Is Coke zero or any other soft drink any better?

As always your input is appreciated.

Have a diet soda, just don’t get into them daily is best. I like the coke made with Splenda occasionally. Also Coca Cola has a ginger lime that I like, kind of like half ginger ale half cola with a squeeze of lime. Good mixer too.

Coffee>Diet soda

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #4

Mountain Dew is loaded with caffeine, and there is a diet version.

My brother drinks that stuff and year by year his belly line is expanding.

I reckon you’re playing with fire. Zero, no-sugar, “diet” - really ? No way, they are addictive and will put the pounds on - diet version or not.

I drink coke zero all the time, I wouldn’t worry about it. I also drink a lot of Zevia which is a cleaner soda and still has caffeine.

I’m a coffee drinker. On rare occasions when I can’t get coffee, I drink diet cola. Read the ingredients and make sure it does have caffeine in it! Apparently Coca Cola has replaced Coke Zero with Coke Zero Sugar and reduced the caffeine content. So maybe you’re better off with Diet Coke.

EDIT: I drink Zevia cola when I can find it. The caffeine content is almost the same as that of Diet Coke.

Maybe go for a caffeine pill? They’re effective without the sugar or sugar alcohols.

Great choice
120mg of caffeine
Flavors- Kola, Mango Ginger, Raspberry Lime, and Grapefruit.

And more importantly, my go to non-coffee drink as well😄

Btw
Those that have a local Sprouts…
Check for availability
Can usually get 3/$5 - a lot

You can just buy NoDoz or some other caffeine pills.

Thanks everyone, I survived and just used some Pure Leaf bottled, unsweetened black tea.
