Bye bye Dairy. It’s been epic 😢

I used to be vegan(shhhhhh don’t tell anyone) :joy:because of all the terrible things in our food. I just do the best I can now. The more research you do the worse it gets. Can’t eat bloody anything! Meh…

#22

I can eat butter but cheese (even hard) causes issues for me. You can always try to introduce it and see how you feel.

#23

True story! I think it all just comes back to Whole Foods from now on…for me anyways…and bacon

#24

Oh that’s interesting! I’ve never noticed issues with butter to be honest :ok_hand:t2: I tend to stay away from hard cheese lately anyway…I just end up binging on it

#25

I am very thankful I can still eat butter! It makes everything taste a little butter

Or brie! Or lactose - so that’snot it.
Can you call them and ask for the other list of what came up negative? Maybe they didn’t test for those, but the foods are so specific it seems like they tested almost everything. Or there might be things that were 50% they don’t put on the high-risk list. You paid for it so that data is yours, surely.

It’s work, but maybe try an elimination diet?.. cut out all dairy, then after a month try just cheddar or just cream and see if you get the symptoms back? (I’m a person that does tend to experiment on myself a lot though, so I would say that.)

#27

That’s a good idea! They test for over 600 things… plants, animal dander etc. so I got 2 pages…one was food. Second was (see below…nothing to do with keto but yes very specific) they say that anything over 85% will definately cause some sort of reaction.
Yeh you’re right maybe I will contact them just to see what percentages were linked to the other foods they tested. I’ll cut all those things out for a month and go from there reintroducing things slowly :ok_hand:t2:! Like my fav…spruce trees :evergreen_tree: :fork_and_knife:

I just spit out my coffee:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Deepest condolences.

One day i will have to accept that dairy and I do not agree.
But today is not yet that day.

#30

What kind of test was this? Wasn’t one of those companies doing hair right?

#31

Correct :ok_hand:t2:

#33

If you want I’ll try to find it, but I looked into one of those a while back because I’m toying shelling the money out for a Cyrex array and was reading that the hair test’s have a lot of false positives/negatives. Something to the effect that our antibodies to that stuff don’t reside or make it to our hair follicles, so you MAY not be doomed yet.

#34

Oooooh interesting  I kind of guessed I may have dairy issues and kind of put it all on that test. When the result came back I just instantly thought ‘knew it!’. I was very lazy toward the whole thing to be honest, kind of like ‘meh…here…someone …anyone just tell me in black and white what I think i already know’ kind of attitude. I didn’t really research it but you brought up an interesting point there. I’ll go have a look and that means of testing in a bit more depth:books: thank you for that

Here’s one I googled.

I try to remember … in this stuff, the highest form of evidence is your own honest experience and experimentation, backed up and informed by books and other people’s stories.

Its not the other way around. Like, it’s not books or what someone else says over-riding your own realisations.

(Yes its a combination, but I’m talking about overall prioritisation.)

Suck it up, Buttercup! Or maybe not.

I’ve found that I feel mucus-y on most dairy foods, except for butter and firm cheeses (cheddar, Swiss, etc.). I guess we all have our own dairy line: food on one side of line okay, food on other side not okay.

With the Stilton, the problem might be the specific mold they use to make it.

Edited to add: Yes, even “lactose free” products (e.g., lactose free whipping cream) affect me.

Traditionally Ginger is used to move congestion, enhance circulation and anti-inflammation, and provide what we now know are enzyme precursors. If one isn’t eating fermented dairy or other fermented foods, then one needs enzymatic support. Ginger is an enzyme precursor, and I love how it loves me! Plus, it’s very economical to supplement with.

When I began keto and noticed the sluggish digestion of fats in general and esp heavy cheese dishes - I started to supplement with dry Ginger capsules (also because it reduces cortisol, which is really relevant for those who are stressed or who are midlife females). And - boom! - no problem with dairy, based on my regular elimination w/ all the healthy indicators, along with slow and steady recomposition (ie, have lost 5 inches from my waist in the last year, and I wasn’t much overweight to begin with).

listen to Dr john Douillard

he has very logical answers and solutions

basicly the issue is caused by the lymph system congestion and can be treated.
