Hi all…a couple of questions re the above…is it ok to replace butter by whipping cream and does it break fasting?

Depends… what is your fasting aim?
Do you like cream over butter… I do so never have butter in my coffee only cream. But I also don’t describe it as BPC just coffee with cream.
I’m with you, I’d never call anything “BP.” No need to give any more publicity in that direction…
It breaks a water fast (obviously) but, Dr. Fung is okay with it (if the patient is not fasting for anti-cancer benefits - where he recommends water and salt only).
I had an issue with the “What breaks a fast?!” video when I watched it - really just a bunch of rules. It seems the approach should be (if you are not looking for anti-cancer benefits or autophagy) “what can I have and still be sure the body is not going to down-regulate metabolism because it is assuming this is the new normal calorie intake?”.
I do not think a small amount of heavy cream / MCTs / butter etc. (sub-100 calorie range) will be perceived by the body as the new metabolic level it should move to.
BUT, some of the BPC recipes (combinations of collagen protein powder, MCTs, butter and / or coconut oil) might slow metabolism because they hit the 300 to 400 plus calorie range. If you talk yourself into one of those heavy BPCs in the morning (thinking high fat is okay because it does not affect insulin much) and some extra thick large bowl of bone broth in the evening - I feel (not a doctor!) that you could slow your metabolism while thinking you are fasting.
