I have never heard of any of those stores. Haha. I’m from North Carolina. Maybe Harris teeter has it. They have lots of things that are unique. I just hate going there because it’s expensive
Bullet proof coffee?
We have Harris Teeter also, but I don’t go there often either. I do most of my weekly shopping at MOMs and then buy in bulk from Costco and Restaurant Depot. Wegmans has a lot of variety, but I don’t go more than once in a while there.
Try going without coffee at all for a few days if you are a regular coffee drinker. I promise you will drink it black and you will love it.
I’m in NC too Lowe’s foods or Harris teeter maybe Im like you I don’t visit them often either . I enjoy Heavy Whipping Cream in mine and the one I get has no carbs when I put it in the tracker even at 10 tablespoons it’s delicious and keeps me full for a while as well .
Black coffee should also be good coffee. You want quality beans freshly roasted, and you want them ground immediately before brewing.
I would love it if everything I put in my mouth was great but sadly I’ll take coffee any way I can get it up to a point of course. It’s got quite the hold and I’m not fighting it.
Oh lordy. After vacationing in Seattle in June I can say that I have a new appreciation for good coffee. They’re not kidding when they say Seattle has good coffee.
What brand is the kind you get. I need to try this hwc. Especially if it helps keep you full.
There are two basic kinds of HWC:
(1) those with a thickening agent
(2) those without a thickening agent.
Those without are better, as hey have nothing added. I get Trickling Springs organic HWC. It comes in a glass bottle. The kind with thickening agents usually are in a carton with a twist cap. The kinds in a carton without a twist cap may or may not have a thickening agent.
I decided to buy a half gallon of unsweetened vanilla almond milk at the store today. I already had some sweetener. So tonight was the night I tried it out.
I will try to use the almond milk for something else but as for using it in coffee, it was really ineffective for me. There was none of the smooth creaminess or taste of real cream. It was as though I added water. Even the color of the coffee was barely lightened by the almond milk. I couldn’t even taste the vanilla, even when I had it at a ratio of nearly 2/3 vanilla almond milk to 1/3 coffee (yes, I really went that far). Glad it works for others but in this house, “this dog ain’t gonna hunt”.
Just for comparison, I did try a second cup, well, closer to a half cup, of coffee and added a bit of my wife’s half n half (her usual). It didn’t take all that much to brighten the color and when I tasted it, there was definitely a warm, creamy taste and texture totally absent from what I had with the almond milk.
I tried, I really did. And I wanted to like it quite a lot. But if I had my choice of coffee with almond milk or no coffee at all, I think it wouldn’t be long before I wouldn’t be drinking coffee anymore. It’s a different animal without the cream, or at least half n half. I was really hoping, too, as the whole half gallon of almond milk was pretty close to the same price as one pint of HWC.
Bummer. Atlwast you tried. I am actually giving up sweeteners in my coffee. As I think I figured out that the sugar free torani is spiking my insulin and is what is causing me to stall on weight loss.
I’m trying to decide now if I add HWC to my coffee if I will be breaking my fast or not. I’m on day one of a 4 day fast. Any input on that? I can’t drink it black. And hwc has no sweetener so I’m stuck on if I should try that or jusy not drink coffee
I wouldn’t be of much help on the fasting question. When I fast, it’s water only, with the only exception being a little bit of lemon in the water. It’s funny, I am fine with lemon water only. Anything else, and I AM hungry again. So that’s kinda the way my fasts roll, no coffee, no tea, just the lemon water. Otherwise, I’m done with the fast.
I can’t do black coffee either. I tried to tell my wife, the way I have coffee with lots and lots of cream, it’s kinda like chocolate milk, only instead of chocolate, it’s coffee. “Coffee milk”. LOL!! (She wasn’t amused. LOL!!)
Thanks. I made a cup and added it. But I took a few sips and I think I’m going to go back to water. That little bit did help my hunger though. And I got a little energy from the caffeine. I may have cheated but I had some tell me it’s okay and others saying not to. So I was confused. So I drink less than half.
