Bring back Baytowvin

(Blessed with butter ) #41

what if we flag this thread and get admin to get him back?

(Hyperbole- best thing in the universe!) #42

Ok, before I was feeling chill, thinking, I’m sad Baytowvin is gone but you just gotta learn to ignore frustrating threads. Which is good advice that I need to listen to. Some people seem determined to not be helped. GHHAHHH! Even when they are actually doing fine. Bleh, I’m going to eat some olives before my next fast starts.

(Chris) #43

@Baytowvin

Come back bb plz. I’m posting male nudes in my progress thread every week until you are forced to come back.

(Chris) #44

Just shows up as a blemish on the person you flagged’s profile and can cause them issues in the future. Use @ instead to tag a specific mod.

No fucking idea why Discourse didn’t include a ā€œmessage the adminsā€ feature that doesn’t require a specific mod to be targeted with it. Awful design.

(Blessed with butter ) #45

Ok got it. I will do this.

(Chris) #46

IDK how much help it will be.

However, tagging him @Baytowvin should theoretically email him each time.

#47

[sigh]

the forum without @Baytowvin is like an orchestra without music

see what I did, there

#48

No idea what happened and didn’t read this whole thread, but he was a fun guy to have around!

(Lonnie Hedley) #49

Wow, that thread was a doozy. So many flagged posts. Give him time to take a break, he’ll be back. Stop feeding the trolls. Easiest way to get them to go away.

#50

@Baytowvin come back!!! Save @Dread1840 from posing naked selfies!

(TJ Borden) #51

Thanks everyone for the kind words. I do miss all of you, and the fellowship of the forum, especially Katie (AKA hottie from down under ).

As you guys know, I have no problem challenging CICO people and trolls, not that they’re the same. There are…a few, of you CICO people that are okay . I’m not afraid of arguing, and I don’t have much of a filter. The positive side of that is I’m not a bull shitter (sorry, can’t blur from email) and I’m sincere. The negative is that I can sometimes push the line of what some consider civil versus not.

Unfortunately very few admins are very active, and when they do pop on, they tend to see a thread with a snap shot of long exchange that has span several threads, then exercise their power to enforce politeness over content. According to some admin, when confronted with someone that gives advice to ā€œeat less, exercise more, and as long as you exercise enough, 250 grams of carbs are fineā€ to newbies, I should ignore them and allow them to confuse newbies wanting to learn about keto with the same old advice that landed us all here to begin with.

That’s not how I roll. If someone wants to choose that path for themselves, fine. But this is a ketogenic forum, and I can’t NOT do whatever I can to defend the integrity of the forum. I’ve been contacted by multiple admins with the general theme being my comments and approach are detrimental to the forum and if I were to continue I’d be suspended or kicked.

With that, I felt it was best to take a break for a while. At least by leaving on my own, I have the ability to pop back in later versus continuing on and getting kicked.

Again, I appreciate the comments, and remember; KCKO - especially you Mic, because I know you hate that saying :joy:.

I’m sure it’s against the rules to post personal email addresses. So I’ll just speak in general terms. If someone were wanting to reach out to someone else from the forum, but outside the forum, like if someone did end up getting kicked. I bet many user names are also e-mail addresses with common providers like… hot mail, for example…

(Hyperbole- best thing in the universe!) #52

Yeah, I can see why you are frustrated. I did start keto for weight loss… but this is ketogenicforums.com, not anyolweightlossregime.com, so I get tired of seeing the eat less excersize more crap I can read on any website promoted here. I’m all for being polite. But I don’t feel like I should have to see that here. Im practicing just ignoring and moving on.

Anyway, I’m glad you at least got to see this thread and know there’s a good number of us who value your presence here.

(Blessed with butter ) #53

Sooo are you back?
I really believe in you and what you say, you are only trying to help people with the honesty we all deserve. MY ONLY ISSUE WITH YOU IS YOUR NOT HERE!

(Blessed with butter ) #54

I want to thank you all for letting @Baytowvin know how he is important to us. You everyone of you are important to this Forum. I keep coming back because this is the best support I have. Again, Thank you all.

#55

Thanks for the reply. Miss your humor and your intelligent comments. Don’t stay offline too long!

(Jane) #56

I was going to post last night but was too jet-lagged to post anything coherent so waited until today and saw that @Baytowvin posted on this thread.

WOOT!

I understand getting frustrated and needing a short break but I am glad it wasn’t permanent. Your advice and humor are essential to what makes this place so great!

(Mike Glasbrener) #57

I’m cut from the same cloth. If someone posts poorly supported stuff and more specifically starts a thread telling everyone to look at it I can’t help but to point out the issues. If someone is articulate and we have an open discussion, great! When it regresses to go away and ignore me because I don’t agree with the poster then it requires some deep breaths and more effort to engage.

(Daisy) #58

I haven’t been part of this community for long, but I thoroughly enjoy reading all of @Baytowvin posts/replies. Take the time you need, but please come back!

#59

I think someone is telling porkies. I don’t think any admins advocate that. You are a valued member of the forum - I certainly use your food pics often for my podcast social media  - but everyone gets a little overheated sometimes and yes, you may have been asked to rein your comments in a bit from time to time. Things escalate far less than they used to on Facebook but they can still get heated and the community responds with flags. We have to act on those. We do discuss things behind the scenes you know, we don’t just swoop in and exercise our power at random.

Thank you for sharing your perspective and your truths regarding your
voluntary absence. I respect you and your comments. It was con-
siderate of you to let us know. I do await your return, when and if that
gift comes sooner or later. Just know your truth is appreciated, and
yes, your delivery reinforces your concern, knowledge, humor and
perspective. Till the time is right, have good days.
