Breakfast Question

#1

Starting week 4. This morning I only feel like having bacon and BPC for breakfast. Is that OK? I feel like I am craving salt. I also feel I could eat the entire package of bacon… I did cook all of it.

I have already consumed 4 slices of thick cut bacon, 40 g fat and 20 g protein. I will make coffee with kerrygold, heavy cream and MCT.

FWIW I do a lot of cardio and I am worried I am not getting enough electrolytes hence the salt craving, but I have high blood pressure too.

It’s not uncommon for me to eat a pound of bacon from time to time. Sometimes your body wants the fat. Do not deprive your body of the fat it needs.

Yeah that’s fine, I supplement with a pinch of salt whenever I feel the need, I had very high BP but it’s coming right down now, even with a tsp or 2 salt a day. Bacon is always good!

Eat what you want when you are hungry. Don’t eat when you aren’t hungry. Forget overall daily macros if you are approximately following them when you do eat. Trust your body.

Go for it

#6

What do you consider very high BP?

(Ellen) #7

The highest I ever had was 186/158, 2 lots of meds brought that down to closer to normal, now it’s officially low and Dr says if low for next 3 checks I can ditch one lot of meds.

#8

Yes mine has been that high due to family stress - it went to 190/160 and my husband rushed me into a walk in clinic. But my typical BP is 160/95.

I checked it once last week and it was normal. I just hope for a downward trend.

Fingers crossed for you.

Salt rarely is the cause of high BP. Have you tracked your BP against your salt consumption? You may well be low and that could be part of the issue.

#11

No I haven’t done that. I just started keto 4 weeks ago.

I have not been diligent in tracking my BP - I check it every few days. But that is a good idea to track based on what I consume as I am tracking my food.

I do not know how much salt I should be ingesting daily and I have a feeling I am not getting enough as I do intense cardio 4 days a week.

Good advice right here! Trust a pro!

#13

I ate 5 pieces of bacon and a BPC.

Just took my BP and it is 160/105 and my resting heart rate is 91 which is high for me. Usually its 60-65.

No wonder I feel jittery.

Try poweraid zero for electrolytes. Use lots of salt on your food. Supplement potassium and magnesium.

Here’s a video check it out

(matt ) #16

How does the caffeine impact you? It can raise BP and heart rate. It also pulls salt from the body.

#17

One cup of coffee typically does not bother me. I do have a lot of stress in my life at the moment which I need to get under control.

I meditated for 10 min and got my bp down to 138/88 and heart rate 75.

@DebRox listen to this, it could help you

This
So true!

Back in the day …I would counter Alcohol with fast food Carbs

Now …I counter caffeine with pink salt

Go figure😂

If that is what you are inclined to eat then go for it. Eat slowly and until you feel satisfied. I sometimes oven back 1kg of bacon (the fatty type) and then collect the bacon necter (fat) and eat it with the leaner bacon.
