Brainwashed

Remember when we thought these foods were unhealthy? That’s heavy cream in my coffee btw.

Yeah, like when people describe vegetable soup and bread followed by sugared low fat yogurt and apiece of fruit (which used to be my lunch almost every day) as healthy. Especially if you have a glass of OJ with it.

I made up a cheese/salami plate for lunch. Fat is very filling…

Just eating fat for lunch is so different and is taking a bit to get used to. Still working on overcoming the brainwash that fat is bad and carbs are good.

Yes I do! We have been staying in a B&B this weekend in Plymouth, UK. Full English breakfast was available and I ordered mine with 2 pieces of back bacon, 1 sausage, 2 poached eggs and fried mushrooms. I had them keep the baked beans, fried tomato and the brown toast. I asked if they had cream for my coffee. My husband asked me if I was concerned about the saturated fat in the cream. I had to remind him that I was actually concerned about the orange juice, weetabix cereal and milk he was having as in was much more inflammatory than my choice. He is slow in getting it but it does take a while to unlearn the dogma that has been drilled into us over a lifetime.

Hang in there, it gets easier letting go of the old dogma overtime. Fat without the side serving of guilt tastes fucking awesome!! :grinning:

@Brenda Your photo brought back wonderful memories of our adventures travelling across Canada by car many years ago (gas was much cheaper then) 11 times! :astonished: We never had a problem getting real food - bacon, eggs and coffee for breakfast every day in the small towns, especially in mom and pop restaurants. We were living in Vancouver but had bought property in NS to retire. :grinning:

one of the only things that really came out of the industrial revolution that was right as far as diet is concerned is that they pushed bacon and eggs as a hearty breakfast… of course that was short lived with all of the breakfast cereals coming to market and the demonizing of saturated fats…
