BP raised

(Rebecca ) #1

I started on Carnivore Nov 16, 2022 and lost 15 lbs right away. Now my weight fluctuates between 1-3 lbs. I eat only OMAD however I do have coffee with cream in the morning. This way of eating has healed my stomach issues but my BP ranges from 140/78-156/72 and it was 128/70 @ my last dr visit. Is this a normal thing or is there something I can do to lower it?

Welcome to our forum forum, Becca!
I don’t have my input on that so I’ll be curious about the answers/insights you receive here as well.
I received so much help from some very knowledgeable and patient souls on here. You will too.
You’ve got this!

Welcome to the forums! Have you spoken to your doctor about this? What was your blood pressure before you started eating a carnivore diet? In any case, you’ve been eating this way for no more than a month and a half, so it is far too early to expect all your health problems to be resolved. Give it four or five more months before worrying.

In any case, a high systolic number is not nearly so concerning as a high diastolic number, since systolic pressure is intermittent, whereas diastolic is a continuous strain. Your diastolic is perfectly fine, so a systolic pressure of 140 is not nearly so concerning as it would be if your diastolic pressure were, say, 100.

Also, I have to say that no one questioned it, when my blood pressure was routinely 138/110. Of course, I am much happier now that keto has lowered it to 112/70 at my last checkup.
