Bouillon cubes

Is having 2 Korrs Bouillon cubes a nono in keto? I drink 3 liters of water, have all my electrolytes barely past the recommended numbers and still tired. Can I use 2 cubes per day? they are 2200 sodium per cube, which is why I’m asking as I’ll have my sodium upped by 2200.

Been on keto since November 2017, so not a new person here.

The body wilthout carbohydrate needs more salt, because insulin signals the kidneys to retain salt. There has also been high-quality research done suggesting that around 5 g of sodium daily is by no means too much. Certainly the recommended level is dangerously low.

I wouldn’t worry about the stock cubes, except for whatever nastiness and sugars they contain. Better for you is homemade bone broth, but the cubes are very convenient.

Well, the Keto guru Dr. Phinney carries stock cubes around in a zip lock freezer bag with him wherever he goes, so he can get salt quickly/ anywhere/ anytime.

(Saw him telling/ showing this recently in one of his youtube videos)

I was listening to an episode of BioHacker’s Lab this morning with Dr. James DiNicolantonio.

Having your sodium intake too low is way worse for your health than getting too much.

He’s been on the Dudes’ podcast, too. Give him a listen whenever you’re concerned about your salt intake.

I guzzle salt water, sip boullion just about every day (rarely only 2 cubes’ worth; I make what I call “keto coffee” - just boullion and a caffeine pill disolved) and pile salt on my food. My blood pressure is perfect/low and my sodium is right where it should be. If you’re doing keto right, you not only CAN consume as much salt as you like, you SHOULD.

PS: my BP is low/normal as well and I eat salt like it’s (the proverbial) candy. I’m off two BP meds from a combo of keto and upping my salt intake.

Normally what I do is I use 1 Bouillon cubes with 500ML hot water (says half a cube per 250 ML), then put 1 teaspoon of nu salt in and swish it around, then 1 teaspoon pink him salt crystals (always grinds on my teeth though), mix that around and drink it in a cup. Tastes SO HORRIBLE! but it’s what I need so suck it up buttercup. I’m just going to do 250ML (1 cup) of water instead of 2 cups of hot water for my cubes from now on. As for water…I drink 6 500ML Nestle Pure Life bottles a day, which comes to 3 liters of water. Plus the sodium from my foods like hot italian sausages, bacon, eggs, burger pattys, etc. Also eat 6 cups spinach and 3 cups broccoli so I get plenty of potassium, plus I get enough magnesium from my foods, but I may buy some magnesium pills from walmart anyway. I also drink about 4-5 cups of coffee per day, just black.
