Booze

(Frank) #21

As an active home brewer I enjoy all types of beer. Since going Keto in Jan 2018 here are my observations. I am unable to drink nearly as much before getting blitzed and therefore it is almost a self controlled intake. Since becoming fat adapted the occasional over intake of beer doesn’t seem to have a detrimental effect on my weight. There’s no doubt that I feel like garbage the next day but my weight fluctuates maybe a pound or 2 and then it’s back to normal within a day or two. Since I brew my own I can choose yeast which eats most of the sugars leaving a pretty dry beer. I have a cream ale with Belgian yeast which attenuated down to 1.001 recently. That’s dry! Everybody’s tolerance for carbs is different of course but I feel like my relationship with them has changed to a point where it would be impossible to go back where I was. Being able to enjoy my beer and a fairly regular schedule again has increased my quality of life and I feel will only help moving forward.
