Bluesky?

Anyone on Bluesky? If so, can you recommend low carb/keto/carnivore/etc. accounts to follow? Thanks.

PS – I left Twitter once Musk bought it, then went to Instagram and Threads, but just deleted my accounts there.

PPS – I was also following farmers, regenerative agriculture, etc. So if you know of anything like that on Bluesky, let me know.

Yeah, I opened an account on bluesky, but not sure why I bothered.

So far, cannot find any compelling reason to spend time there. Perhaps I’m not trying hard enough, or am just a geezer who doesn’t know any better.

Don’t have facebook, x, instagram or tiktok - so that probably explains something, too. :man_shrugging:

Am not anti-social … just anti-social media… as it seems there’s little content on social media that is actually social.

As the old saying goes: It’s called a medium because it’s neither rare nor well done.

Well, when Twitter was “good”, where were a ton of keto/carnivore folks on there, and you could see where a (crap) study was released, and those people would be all over it in less than a day. And I used to get a lot of interesting studies to read.

I think the problem is that there are still some people on Twitter, some went to Threads, and a few went to Bluesky. But Bluesky seems to have the fewest right now.

I mostly read Twitter/Threads, but didn’t post much.

I think of these as being more news-centric, where studies that come out are almost instantaneously there. They are less support. This forum is less news (though there is some here too), and more support.

But there are few real keto/carnivore folk on Bluesky that I can see. Bummer.

I started following a few folks on substacks. Within a few weeks I’m overrun with garbage. FenBen magically cures tumors! Just do these weird tricks to lose weight instantly! Here’s a daily list of things I observe that you probably don’t know if you are seven years old and have spent the last seven years living under a rock!

I’m starting to wonder if the age of online discourse is dead. No idea what comes next, though.

I think you’ve put your finger on the core issue. “Following” folks on the internet rarely ends well. Few are heading where you want to go.

Yes, but I limited myself to Gary Taubes and Nick Norwitz. Somehow, ten dozen other people I haven’t followed are still showing up in my notifications. I pretty much hate everyone at this point.

Most have stayed with X, for now. Very few informative posts on Blue Sky other than recipes and “I wanna be low carb” posts

I signed up for Mark.

I can’t, in good conscience, stay on X or Threads. Their billionaire owners are obscene in my opinion. Renaming Twitter as X, for instance, was one of the most ludicrous things I’ve even seen. Tweet was in the common vernacular. “X-ing” never will be.

I miss Ben Bikman, a lot of carnivore folks, etc. Ben Bikman was mainly on Instagram, but I also gave that up. I’d say I’d start a keto set of posts, but I don’t really post anything. Only read and respond.

At least Carl Franklin is on Bluesky (and I follow him, though it’s often not low carb).

I think Ben Bikman is mostly on youtube now. He started his own channel called insulinIQ.
Subreddit also has a decent keto community: https://www.reddit.com/r/keto/comments/77ccdi/list_of_keto_subreddits/

I’ll have a look … never been there!
