This topic might not be something many here will be able to relate to but I’m looking for feedback or thoughts on what it might mean. I had some bloodwork done a few days ago and saw the results today and had two shockers: My sodium and chloride are LOW! That made me laugh out loud… I was actually afraid to see that number since I salt everything so much! But apparently giving up processed foods really has cut down on the levels I was consuming because I’m low, not high! Guess I better keep salting!
My ALT level (liver enzyme) is high. I’m actually hoping that it’s due to me recently becoming fat adapted because, if not, then it probably means that a new medication I’m taking is damaging my liver. That’s the reason for the bloodwork… doc needs to check my liver enzymes every 3 months (this is the first one) to make sure the drug isn’t killing my liver. Since I think the med is actually working for me I don’t want to hear that I have to discontinue it. I also don’t want to hear that I have to stop a keto WOE because I love it. So I’m HOPING that this elevation is due to keto but that it will come down in a month or two.
I read a previous thread on this in here and it was discussed briefly, but not recently. Anyone notice elevated liver enzymes from keto?
(Yes, I have a message into my doctor who will hopefully call me about this tomorrow).
