Lots of people are curious how keto effects heart health, so I thought I’d post my most recent lipid test results and health history:
55 yo
had heart attack 10 years ago
on statins for 10 years, have been off of them for 35 days prior to this lipid test
started keto: may 15
start weight: 302
current weight: 248
very active: walk 125-150/mi month + weight training 3-4x week
keto daily macro avg (includes 20+ fast days, so macros are higher and i’m eating more than this avg the days i do eat)
calorie intake:1640
carbs: 50g
protein: 84g
fat: 118g
LDL: 78 to 103
HDL: 40 stay at 40
Triglycerides: 100 to 82
Total Chol: 138 to 159
Sort of a mixed bag with the cholesterol. I expected LDL to be higher. HDL stayed the same. Triglycerides are down 18%. Everything is at a good level. I’m actually satisfied with the results, as nothing has gone haywire with my lipids, but would like to see these numbers improve, and perhaps they will once I’m through losing weight.
