Blood sugar rise after work out at gym?

I was just at the gym. I did weights and aerobics. 1 hr. I came back home and meaured my ketones 1.4 mmol, and BS = 102. Usually my blood sugar is below 90. Does glucose get released during workouts? I did do about 15 minutes of HIIT (interval training)

Your liver likely was prompted to produce a little extra glucose due to your workout. Should be nothing to worry about

thanks, thats interesting.

This also might depend on how long you’ve been keto and if you’re fat adapted.

The general rule of thumb is to not worry about tests within 2 hours of a workout, unless they are really out of line and/or dangerous. During exercise, insulin levels take a nosedive to allow access to fat stores and that will allow an increase in blood glucose. After a glycolytic exercise (weights, HIIT) muscle glycogen is replenished via GNG from the liver, and you may see a transient spike in glucose as this is happening.
