I am trying to find out which tester thingy thing I should get ( i know very scientific term). One of my friends who is diabetic said that they don’t make such a thing but I see people on here who have those devices. Can anyone recommend a good solid one I should pick up?
Precision Xtra meter measures blood glucose and blood ketones. Just buy the appropriate strips and test. 
If you are in the USA the strips can be expensive, I have sourced some online from Canada for a little cheaper. If you want specific sites let me know I’ll send you a private message. I don’t think it is right to post links to ecommerce stuff on here.
Jimmy Moore also has new meter coming out, I believe “Smart Meter” that will measure glucose or ketones depending on the strip, he is selling it as a more affordable option and has a coupon code now to buy it.
If you are in the UK Spirit healthcare sell a meter call a caresens duo which tests ketone blood levels strips are £1.00 per test. Not cheap but cheaper than many others.
If you are in the USA, I would recommend getting the Precision Xtra by Abbot Laboratories, which does both blood glucose and blood ketone measurements.
