Blood glucose or ketone reader?

Hi y’all…I have been monitoring my BG for years now teaching me what foods spike my blood sugars. My question is, are my blood sugars a good enough indication of where my ketone levels are or would you recommend a ketone reader for that? Reason why I ask is because I do a lot of traveling and want to make sure I stay in ketosis while traveling.

Hi Irene, no blood sugar readings will not tell you what your ketone levels are. You can buy readers that will test both Ketones and Blood glucose levels, they have different strips for glucose or ketones.

I use the Freestyle Optium Neo tester, you can buy them on Amazon but they look a bit expensive. They are a lot cheaper here in Australia. This one will test both glucose and ketones but you need to buy different test strips for each. You may be able to find something else a bit cheaper at your local chemist.

Google Keto Mojo here in the US. The ketone strips are the cheapest I’ve seen (still expensive at $1 per strip).
