I am thinking about getting a blood glucose monitor, but before I do, I wanted to get some advice. Am I okay to go out and buy a cheap monitor like a ReliOn monitor or do I need to spend more money to insure accuracy. I have come to the place where I feel like I should be testing some of the foods that I consume to see how I am affected.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

I got the cheapest I could find at Walmart. Works just fine. Then later on I purchased the Keto mojo for blood ketones.

I like my Freestyle Optium Neo. I can test glucose and ketones.

I’m am not a diabetic, so I’m not an expert. I test my BG and BK daily and use the information to guide my actions, but the actual number is not critical.

I use the ReliOn Prime. I’ve not used the Keto Mojo or Precision Xtra for glucose so I can’t compare directly, but the readings correlate of the A1c I received from my doctor. I use as app called Glucosio to track my BG and BK values. It also calculates a A1c based on the data inputted.

If I were to start over, I’d buy the Countour Next, because it consistently gets a good rating for accuracy from multiple website techies.
