Just got a Keto Mojo so I’m testing a bunch the last couple days. Especially to see information while I’m fasting #zornfast. Thought this looked low so I checked. From what I’ve read your body isn’t going to let you go much lower. This is the first week I’ve actually ever seen BG or ketones by “the numbers”.

I don’t think you need to be concerned. From the other post, if I understand correctly, the HWC is causing an increase in insulin which is bringing your BG down. @marklifestyle correct?

38 was my low. I too didn’t know what to think and it was forth day of a fast. I went to my basement gym and lifted, HARD. BG came up to 56. BHB stayed about 7.0 at that time.

I would not worry about it going lower if you feel fine.

You are doing fine.

If you listen to enough talks by Stephen Phinney (or read his books) you’ll find him talk about an experiment done some time ago in which the doctors took some well fat-adapted, healthy people and drove down their blood sugar with insulin. The idea was to see if running on their ketones was enough. There was all sorts of support equipment in case they started to get sick from hypoglycemia (low blood sugar), but Phinney says they probably couldn’t get it approved by a review board today, as the reviewers would likely consider it too risky.

Some of the people had their blood sugar go into the 20s, and if I remember correctly, some had their glucose go below that. Everyone felt fine. They wouldn’t have known they were that low in blood sugar if it hadn’t been measured. Their bodies were running perfectly on ketones.

If you’re well fat adapted you’ll be OK (I don’t know how long you’ve been doing keto, or how well you’re fat adapted), but clinical hypoglycemia makes you feel terrible. Cold sweats, nausea, shakiness, and a bunch of other symptoms. It can be serious, so I don’t want to understate it. But if you’ve been keto a while, you’re well fat adapted, then do a test that says you have a blood sugar of 66, while you feel fine, all I can say is “I wish I had that!” (My lifetime “Personal Record” is 75)

Talking about that experiment, Dr. Phinney says in one of his lectures, "The only people in the room who were having palpitations were the researchers.’
