Blood glucose is LOW

(Chris Weeks) #1

Hi all,
new here and new to Keto,
I am 6 days in (I know, fresh) and enjoying it,
I have been measuring BG every morning fasted,
I started around 4.7mmol but I have had a pretty big drop in the last 2 days,
this morning I tested at 2.7mmol

I have also been using the keto pee strips and getting a pretty dark colour indicating high ketones

I am quite fit but really struggled with a easy run 2 days ago and felt very light headed at the end

After a little googling I have come to the conclusion that I may have been Insulin resistant (or on the way there) and that my body is still secreting too much insulin despite almost no carbs to take

So, my question is,
do I just sit it out and wait until my body sorts itself out?
I dont feel too bad and am aware that if I have gotten myself to the stage of Insulin resistance,
it will take a bit of work to get back out the other side and start dropping weight

Thanks in advance

2.7 is fine on a ketogenic diet.

light headed means eat! and be sure to get good salt. your body is dumping toxins and more…you are dealing with adaption. Just do whatever it takes to treat your symptoms a bit if needed. Like if real tired eat and salt yourself LOL then go down for a nap if you can. Most go thru this and it is a normal process.

Are you diabetic? 2.7 is not fine, you are in hypo territory and need to take a few carbs on board.

I just converted it and it came out to under 50 in the units I use. That is VERY LOW!!! I would eat some low glycemic carbs personally.
