Today I wake up after my coffee I checked my blood glucose and it was 120 I was scared I checked my ketones was 1.1 then I slept again then after I wake up I checked my blood glucose was 80 and my ketones 1.9 ok I understand the ketones level morning will be less bcz of the cortisol level โฆ but wht abt the glucose ? Itโs so high 120!!! If anyone knw the real answer plz I need to understand this
Blood glucose crazy ๐
Never a good idea to test that early as your natural sleep hormones cause squiffy results.
Best to wait until at least an hour after waking.
Morning BG is impacted by the cortisol pulse you naturally get to wake up. Itโll liberate some liver glycogen->glucose for you to get moving.
What else will impact it is what you ate the night before as well as how late you ate it.
Ur right I ate almond really late and I had one carrot too too much sugar I think ! But the prob when I checked my level in the morning was 120 then I didnโt move or do anthg I went to my bed again and slept then I checked my level again (same position no movement not even one step I did today ) and it was 80 so itโs weird even if we r gonna say bcz of the cortisol level ! The two test was after I wake up ! So both testy my cortisol level was up bcz it was directly after I wake up
Roughly 18 months ago my fasting blood glucose was typically about 120. Iโve come to believe that was problematic though most doctors donโt pay much attention to it until it gets somewhat higher. Now my blood sugar is typically 70-75 mg/dl and in the 60s with extended fasting. But it is still somewhat volatile, merely doing a few squats will spike it over 100. Iโm assuming short duration moderate spikes arenโt a big deal.
Donโt forget that your glucose meters have margins of error that they are allowed.
Also, if you didnโt know, insulin has a half-life of 2-3 minutes, so glucose can change pretty quick on top of a meterโs inaccuracy.
120 is not the end of the world. And meters suck. I can get 20+ point swing testing a minute apart
