Hello all!!

I’m hoping someone here is familiar with bitters to add to vodka sodas? I read that they can be a good keto friendly option. I’m looking to get some to make drinks a bit more interesting…before I spend the money on them can someone here recommend a nice flavour for me to get? I’ve had a quick look on Amazon and found an orange flavoured one. Are they any good and do they enhance drinks?

I put them in soda water. My favorites are the aromatic ones. Just remember that sweet flavors can trigger insulin production, so try to keep to the savory ones. That having been said, I really like the chocolate and anise bitters, but I only drink them when I am eating so that I don’t get an unnecessary insulin pulse.

Thank you for this- I hadn’t actually considered that sweet could trigger insulin production! Are the aromatic ones considered sweet? I do like the sound of the chocolate one!!

Here is one of my favorites if you feel like being creative:

One thing to be aware of is when the pancreas pushes out digestive enzymes and peptides into the stomach it also excretes bicarbonate which creates a more alkaline environment in the stomach; so the esophageal sphincter valve stays open and thus you get acid reflux if there is not enough hydrochloric acid to even out the PH, the digestive bitter is neutral and stimulates the epithelial cells in the stomach lining to produce more hydrochloric acid to make the esophageal sphincter valve react and close…
