Kinda new at this myself- so take it for what it’s worth… hopefully some more experienced ketoers join in.
Lipid evaluation is important. You can get a “NMR” yourself- offered by “Requestatest” in many locations. A lot of people have shared their results- so you can get help with interpretation. Note that results can likely be influenced by your diet- around the time of the test. (Feldman Protocol). I got a Boston Heart Diagnostics- through my doctor for $160- very similar to the NMR- but goes a little deeper. Luckily that cost included my doctor’s followup explanation which was like an hour.
Homa-Ir is useful. You can google it- basically you’ll need your fasting insulin and fasting glucose from the same draw.
Hba1c is important.
I would check/track/trend/monitor my blood pressure- not obsessively, but in some standardized fashion.
You may want to get a CBC complete blood count and Chem-7 basic chemistry panel, consider ggt and crp for markers of inflammation. Many people are Vit D deficient. Some people have low B12.
If you have a primary doctor- many of those should have been done already. I think you can get them done through a lab yourself (like requestatest) though I do not know what that would cost; and don’t forget “interpretation” of results is very important.
I’ve probably left some out. I will be interested, myself, to know what other people follow or use.
Thanks for starting the post and good luck with Keto!!!
