Sorry if this is long but I’m kind of starting this thread to track my blood work results.
Today (actually Tuesday 11/27/18) I have my annual full-spectrum blood work with my new VA doctor. The test is not until about 2 pm so eating ahead of it was difficult and I cut it off at 9 pm Monday because because I couldn’t eat any more. Too full.
Blood will be drawn at about 17-hour fasting mark.
During the day I ate three fried eggs and a batch of bacon with coffee and 1 tsp of HWC, no sweetener. At night I had a small green salad with turkey salad on top. Shared a hot dog weenie with my dog (after walking 2 miles) and squirted some Mio in my carbonated water. Munched on four pieces of pork rinds. I did a diligent total carb count and it came to 26 because I was told to eat “normally” the day before my test.
My FBG was 80 on Monday and I was in “small” Keto pee-stick levels. And for the past week I have been taking my regular statins to keep my lipids down.
Last November I weighed right at 250 (got up to 255) and today I will weigh in right about 205 (-50). I am really upset my old doc retired because he would be impressed. The new guy will never believe me.
By the way, in June my A1C was 5.5. I am hoping to be nearer to 5.0. Never diabetic but most assuredly pre-D at 255. Even back then I was at 5.7.
Bracing myself for the higher cholesterol readings. Have not been above 180 total or 85 trigs in the past 3 years. I’m sure statins kept that lower but a neurologist added that the statins are probably contributing to my mild case of peripheral neuropathy.
Am going to ask my new doc to super-size my blood work and test every damn thing we can think of. Being a disabled vet pays off big time in these cases, especially when you are disabled because of Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam.
All the prep work is done. Now just the checkup and blood draw remains. The VA is pretty quick with results and I should have full results by Friday.
