Best waitress ever

We went to a local steakhouse for dinner tonight. The waitress took our order-prime rib for both of us, double veggie for me and double salad no croutons for hubby.

When she brought the salad she said “I have some bread that I was going to bring to the table but do you even want it because I noticed the veggies and no croutons…” I politely said “no thanks” to the bread.

I just thought that was so considerate and observant of her to hesitate to bring the bread to the table that normally would have just come with our meal. It’s very nice to go have dinner and have our special requests understood and anticipated! At the end of the meal my husband told me “make sure you give her a good tip!”

That’s awesome. I always make sure to tell people why I loved my experience with them, too, so they don’t just think it was their smile or something.

This happened to my husband and I just last night. We went out to dinner at and Italian restaurant. We ordered an antipasto appetizer, he ordered the steak with veggies instead of a potato with the salad starter (no croutons) and I ordered the sea scallops, on a bed of cabbage and onion, also with a salad starter (no croutons). The waitress came back with the bread and asked “We usually put out a bread basket, are you interested?” We declined. She then followed up by saying “The sea scallops are served on a bed of cabbage and onion, which is on a piece of garlic bread. I let the kitchen know to leave the bread off.” I was so pleased with how observant she was!

We had a similar experience at breakfast today. We both said no toast with the order. She commented with “Are you both doing low carb” Easy, no toast. Done. Perfect

We always decline the bread…often it is brought over right after the water glasses are filled but before the order is taken. Most servers seem very appreciative that we decline versus taking it and not eating, which will then result in the food being thrown out. I can remember how many baskets of dinner rolls I threw out when I worked at my dad’s restaurant. I thought it was such a waste.

We had dinner at Hamburger Mary’s in Chicago last night, my lady and I ordered our burgers with no buns. The waitress brought our food and was thoughtful enough to bring them with lettuce buns… she said since we ordered no buns she thought this would work… very thoughtful!

How cool of her!

I have noticed more and more that servers are very accommodating to keto like request.
We ate at Red Lobster, told the waitress to not bring the biscuits, subbed all the starches out, and ask for loads of extra butter. She was super awesome, even brought more clarified butter. She said" I saw you were running low"

Had this happen a bunch

All the butter please

Those damn biscuits are why I stay out of Red Lobster! I make a pretty good keto version at home, but even the scent of those wafting past my table is enough to weaken my resolve.

At lunch the other day I explained my order and the server said “oh, the cook is on that diet, I will have him make it the way he would!” I loved that.
