Best oil to use when in ketosis

(Juraj Ponkovič) #1

Hello :grinning:

what is the best oil to use in ketosis? Not cooking oil, just for cold salads, meal replacement powder etc

Olive oil, avocado oil. No seed oils (canola, vegetable, soy, etc.).

I use olive oil mostly

Here’s a favorite of mine (I usually add two more tablespoons of vinegar, apple cider, use extra virgin oil, buy the italian seasoning, add a few anchovies and use a stick blender):

Make your own mayo, with extra virgin olive oil or avocado oil:

That’s only one version; there are others.

how much oil can i consume in day?

That’s tough to answer. Considering that oil contains little to no nutrition, I limit my consumption to infrequent use. Today, I had london broil and smoked fish for ā€œlunchā€ , both of which are lean. I used that Italian Vinaigrette to add fat. Tuesday, I used bacon instead to add fat. But if my meal was fattier, I wouldn’t have used any fat.

But this way of eating had to be sustainable for you. If you’re used to eating salads every day, for instance, or it’s easier to stay on the diet if you do, than add some oil.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #7

The advice is to eat fat to satiety. Keep your carbohydrate low, your protein moderate, and stop eating when you are full. Don’t eat again until you are hungry, you don’t have to eat just because the clock says to.
