Do you know if it has a restaurant feature like MFP does where it uses your location and will pull up menu options?
Best macro tracking app?
That is handy on MFP. I donāt know.
My wife made delicious, pacific northwest wild salmon last night. Afterwards, Iād normally toss the skin to our dog, but not now. (Sorry, pooch) I coated a sheet of aluminum foil with olive oil, and convection-baked some salmon skin after dinner. So delicious. It is also not listed in cronometer.
<scrambles to find entry in MFP>
Well, what do you know? Nor does MFP. Iām that far off the radar?
If you are still looking I have used EasyDietDiary, itās free and breaks down all your macros.
Yes-ish. Size of the user community is important to me. I informally use the āalterativetoā website to gauge popularity (yes, Iām sure my method is flawed) I donāt see EDD listed? https://alternativeto.net/software/myfitnesspal/
My biggest challenge with these apps is that they (obviously) require you to put in precise grams for each portion of whatever youāre eating. Do you guys weigh? Do you eyeball it? Whatās your method, pplz?
Like, I just had Chinese food for lunch. It was braised beef with a fried egg and some veggies (broccoli and cabbage, mainly.) No IDEA the precise numbers. (And, as always, praying that they were telling the truth when I asked if there was sugar in the sauce!)
Iām not sure what your food plan looks like but try back off any form of sugar (substitute or berries) and nut flours and reduce your protein portions and up your fat for a few days⦠Real foods only nothing processed or altered⦠See if that helps
A $25 digital kitchen scale from Walmart takes care of the weighing and measuring. When I canāt get the food I want I donāt eat. Iāve already reduced the number of times I eat from 35 to 12 per week so skipping a meal is no big deal. I would never eat a restaurant meal as you described simply because I canāt know how many carbs slipped in there. I donāt worry about eating an unknown amount of fat or protein but Iāve got to know the carbs. 98% of the time Iām only eating food that I prepared so that I can know exactly whatās in there. Four and a half months into Keto I find careful tracking to be indispensable just for learning without regard to the long run.
You know you can track macros on Myfitnesspal without needing to pay anything right?
If you are using the APP version, hit Nutrition at the bottom of your food diary and then it will pull up a page that shows across the top: Calories Nutrients Macros.
Click the macros and there you go.
For free.
After trying Cronometer for a little over a week, I have gone back to MFP.
The limited database of food is too much of a drawback for me.
Carb manager is good but you canāt see potassium unless you get premium, which I will when I get the money to pay for a whole year
Iāve been using MFP since may: accidentally signed up for premium, but okay. I am experimenting with Carb Manager (free) this week. The interface is much prettier, but I will probably go back to MFP until my premium subscription is up.
