Best keto book for newbie?

(betsy.rome) #1

A lot of keto books have come out lately. If you were to recommend one book about keto for a newbie, which one would you choose?

Is there a book that makes it SIMPLER, without recommending a repetitive diet of bacon & eggs for 2 weeks? or using expensive equipment like sous vide.
Ideally with a basic explanation of how keto unlocks weight loss, how to get started, and some recipes and menus - and the science would be correct & up-to-date.

Looking for a someone with these concerns:

  • obese, in her 50’s, not diabetic (A1c = 5.4)
  • high blood pressure
  • chronic kidney disease
  • lactose intolerance
  • works full time, cooks for husband & a teen, who don’t need to lose weight.

Just search online for “easy keto recipes” and you’ll find loads.

I think asking for both science and menus is a bit rough. There are lists, too:

I would get the #1 book, as those are both good people, but I do not have that book as of yet.

I like dietdoctor.com. Lots of science, and lots of good recipes.

My wife uses a lot of recipes from this book…

Maria’s other recipe books are good too.

We also like the savory fat bombs in this book (below). I’m not that fond of the sweet ones.

Honestly? For an easy start without alot of the keto add ons at first? Google Dr Westman Page 4- it will give you his list of food and guidelines. Its what they use at Heal Clinics. Its back to basics beginning, much like the old Atkins induction. Just eat whats in the list in the amounts described. I have been keto on and off for years, went back to basics and lost 12 pounds in 2 weeks. Simplicity to start.

The Obesity Code, by Dr Jason Fung.

No recipes, but a solid understanding of the WHY, which makes the WHAT a whole lot easier.
