I am using Cronometer to track my intake, however, as someone just mentioned the other day, this app has a lot of errors, which brings about my query of what do most of you use, or did use upon starting Keto. I find MyFitnessPal is a lot unreliable. Any suggestions?
Best Calculator?
I like FatSecret…it tracks net and total carbs without too many weird database entries (maybe just because it doesn’t have as large of a user base?)
I’ve used MFP and Cronometer and I find that the food databases are all unreliable in many ways, but I found far more entries already created in MFP when I had to otherwise make wild guesses about a food selected from the Cronometer database or create my own entries, which defeated the point in Cronometer.
The worst example was trying to just add a fucking ribeye steak in Cronometer and I had to look through many different variables of different levels of trim, versus raw, broiled, etc. and ended up just entering something that seemed right from MFP as a new custom food.
I had a similar experience with bacon.
When I can look at a package of Oscar Meyer bacon that matches the values stored in an entry from MFP and can only find “bacon, pork”, “bacon, pork, center cut”, etc. in Cronometer and none of them match the package, I have a hard time accepting the difference.
Yep, there are good entries as well as bad in the MFP database. But since MFP saves your chosen entries in both the “Recent” and “Frequent” tabs, once you find a proper entry you never have to hunt for it again.
Right now I’m trying out Fatsecret and MFP. Leaning towards MFP so far.
I believe so. I do pay for the gold. You can add new on the app but you can’t edit. You have to use the browser for that.
I also make sure I add any barcodes so I can just scan them next time.
