Belly Fat that mens spare tyre

I’m pretty sure I know the answer to this question however the wisdom of the many would be appreciated.

What are the best steps to finally remove that last bit of belly fat.

I’m a guy in my fifties and have dropped about 30kg with this style of living over the last few years and want to finish my belly off.

Any tip and advise would be welcome.

Also a guy in my 50s. The dangerous stuff around my organs came off really quickly for me but then I was left with abdominal subcutaneous fat - which is the less dangerous stuff. The body will reduce that last because it’s more benign than abdominal fat - but they both contribute to inches around your middle. For me time spent low carb has reduced that over 2 years to a fraction of the previous mass. There is no real way to spot reduce one location, you just need to have persistently low insulin so that your body draws down body fat. And for me time spent low carb is doing that.

What Richard said, plus I would imagine, IF and resistance training would help get you there a wee bit quicker.

Sorry, I am a gal, almost 50. I have the same problem. I have been as high as 227#. At my lowest adult weight since middle school, 148#. I believe some of my problem may be metabolic damage? I am trying to get down to one meal\day. I am IF and doing ZornFast (extended fasts). I am trying to be patient because I can see my cage under my arms, but I still have that front tummy fluff that needs to go. Some is loose skin that control undergarments help smooth out. I personally am trying to add extended fasts after 9 months. It just won’t go!

The autophagic effects of extended fasting should help tighten up that skin. Keep in mind that since you are closer to goal weight, you may not have enough bodyfat to sustain your energy during an extended fast. You may need to supplement with some pure dietary fat.

@richard I just have to say you look amazing on the after picture.

It’s my personal belief (only minor science behind it) that your body considers itself maximally healthy when it maintains a “reasonable” reserve of available body fat.

That seems to correlate pretty well with the “I can’t lose the last 10 / 15 pounds I want to lose” posts that are so common. There are also epidemiological studies that show all-cause mortality is lower in people who are 10 pounds “overweight”.

If I’m correct and the body is maintaining fat against times of privation or stress then it’s likely that getting rid of the last 10 pounds would require something less like keto and more like a classic calorie restricted, high exercise diet.

In opposition to my theory, there are people who struggle to even maintain a normal body weight on keto although all of them that I know of are athletes and many of them already seen determined to limit calories.

Don’t get me wrong I’m all in all doing ok. just working both those stubborn areas now. I’ve dropped the big amount from 120kg to 86kg and from 28%bf to under 15% so I’m just being fussy, and looking for ideas to move things forward.

I do find when I do some strict fasting a 36hr fast or 2 days a week of 18/6 fasting I drop more. I think I’m impatient.

thanks for everyones responses

@richard, I don’t recognize the guy in the picture…no :hat:

Yeah I agree @larry that Danish study showed that the people who lived the longest had a BMI of 28.

Due to the Keto WOE I regained my life and got my A1c down. I am so thankful for the keto woe it has given me new life. I am continuing to shrink (I refuse to say lose weight). I can see it in my face, legs, butt etc…however, my darn belly and back fat is hanging on and on and on. I am an apple-shaped person and feel frustrated that these spots are hanging on to the fat! My pants size has gone down but my shirt size has not. I understand patience is key but I am wondering what is the science? Why are these areas the last to let go of the fat? Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks.

You have made more fat cells in those areas under the direction of hormones and a need to store energy over (probably) decades.
