Ok you guys. I have a huge delima…before I started keto I planted my garden. Now the corn is ready to pick. I WANT TO EAT IT ! Can I have a little bit.
Before I started
So what are you going to do with it? (This is why I rarely confess stuff like this, now you’re accountable to the entire forum.)
You could freeze it, maybe? There will some disagreement on this, but after a few months, after fat-adaptation, I find the occasional variance from keto definitely has a less detrimental effect on my progress (which is pretty stop-and-go anyway). So I make those rare exceptions for food I really, really love. But that’s me, I know everyone’s different and for some this can be problematic.
Sorry, I keep editing because I keep thinking of more to say. I just remembered that the day after my last carb-rich evening (which has been once a month at most) my shoulder pain came back after months of being resolved. So yeah, I may quit the carby exceptions after all.
Well I am going to blanch it and freeze it. Then when I need to give someone a gift I will wrap it up. Lol just kidding. I gues giving it to someone else would not follow what I believe. But. Now that I think of it. It’s going to the food kitchen down town. I will keep a few for my hubby cause he loves it ( unfortunately) but honesty is the best policy. I will not lie in this forum it will not do me any good. And this forum is keeping me going.
And you’ve been a fantastic addition to this community! I say that like I’m the mayor of the forums or something, LOL.
I know what you mean. I used to take Dunkin Donuts on Saturdays for the staff I work with, and they have been missing out since I started keto. It feels like I’m some evil influence if I do, like I’m the withered old hag pushing a poisoned apple on Snow White. But objectively, giving away sweet corn isn’t the same as being a drug dealer or something.
Edited: getting my Disney princesses mixed up
I indulged with two tiny pumpkins and roasted the seeds. Gave my corn to neighbors. Though this has been a really bad year in SoCal and nothing really grew well.
