Beans and Lentils

(Helen Taylor) #21

People are missing a few things about beans and lentils. They contain resistant starch which bypasses your digestive system (so won’t make you fat) to be used to feed good bugs in your intestines. Those are the bugs that if you have a lot of beans suddenly create a lot of flatulence - that’s a byproduct of the bugs that are feasting on the bonanza they’ve just received. So the carbs in beans that have been cooked and cooled after, then eaten, are more resistant. Lentils too but still good hot. If you eat them regularly you build up great microbiome and don’t fart at all.
