Back to Work

Hello Keto fans. So I am going back on Keto when I return home on Tuesday. I am also going back to work in a real job for the first time in many years soon. I need some help…

  1. I will be working in a call center environment where snack foods are a way of life. What are some good snack foods to bring with you. I know the standard Pig Skin and Jerky, but mix it up a little. I do have a bit of a sweet tooth so having something that I can easily bring that is sweet with help.

  2. I usually drink energy drinks for energy. The ones I drink are only 25 calories for the entire can but I know there has to be something better for energy. Any suggestions on how to get through the day.

Macadamia nuts, pecans, almonds. Crunchy and filling.

Why not black coffee when you need a boost, and plan to eat meals instead of snacks? Snacking seems to only make me more hungry where meals fill me up until I’m ready for the next.

It would be so nice to just not snack (this is my main personal challenge, so no judgement at all…) but how great if you could re-start this phase of your life and somehow find a way to sidestep the whole snacking thing - some good fluids, a nice walking break, etc instead of finding snack replacements.

One of the biggest values and benefits of Keto is that you get a natural clarity and constant energy WITHOUT the need for external stimulants. I have it now and it’s great but it took a while to get off the junk (mine was Diet Cherry Dr Pepper or Coke Zero - many cans a day).

What I did was to ween myself off them. Initial 2 cans/day, then only with a meal, then water with some Mio cherry flavor and over a couple of weeks I no longer needed the ‘buzz’ from the soda and the keto benefits were kicking in. I still have the odd soda but it is now a treat when going out rather than a necessity. Energy drinks are poison even for metabolically healthy people so getting off them should be a goal (even the low-cal ones). No need for cold-turkey though.

I find it easier to simply not have snacks. It’s the classic one thing leads to another. Try just having a satisfying meal and no snacks. Pay attention that you dint eat out of boredom or habit. If people offer stuff , rather than risk them getting their little feelings hurt (as is often the case) or getting into too much detail, just say oh no thank you I have some health concerns and am on a strict diet. Most people will quickly stop offering and also won’t have the nerve to ask about specifics of your health etc.
