Back to keto again and constipated...again..need answers

Ok so I’ve posted plenty about this and havent figured it out yet. I recently went on an entire month and a half carb binge as an experiment. I didnt filter anything I ate donuts, pizza, chips, pop, alcohol, etc etc etc. While my keot journey has generally made me healthier (my main meals were 95% whole food). Durong this time I ate frankly…like shit. I gained weight, some body pains came back (not to badly). But the major change was no IBS symptoms other than gas and I went to the bathroom once or twice a day with no IBS attacks.

Now ove been on keto again for a few days and for the first time in a month and a half I’m suddenly not going again. I literally eat the exact same food except minus the bread, processed foods, sugar, and fruit. I even eat 50g of pear to keep my macros but maybe get something to make my bowels go. Nope nothing

I really want to know the mechanism of why this is happening? I was clean keto for 4 months, dirty carnivore for 2 months, I did high fiber low fobre no fiber. I did no dairy and high dairy. Lower fat and high high high fat, lost 70lbs…still constipated and frequent IBS attacks.

I simply dont understand why this is happening, what about keto, or ketosis, or high fat makes my bowels just shut down? Its like they stop working efficiently. I really hope someone can help me understand

Let’s flip this around:

[Suggestion] Pick one option and stay with it. If you’ve been doing all this since June, maybe your bowels are just totally confused what to do and just can’t handle it. I suspect that some folks need a few months to get their bowels adjusted. A lot of low grade crap goes through you when eating SAD. Without all the crappy bulk to deal with, it takes longer to build up enough bulk to stimulate a movement. Maybe that’s all it is.

Are you constipated - i.e. painful movements - or just more firm and not on the same schedule of regularity you’re used to? If you really are constipated you can use MCT powder (the oil doesn’t seem to do it) to help get it moving. 20-30 grams dissolved in warm water or coffee should do it. I don’t recommend you do this frequently or you risk becoming dependent. And, after a while you’ll become adapted to MCT powder and it won’t have this effect. Drinking a dose of 10-15 grams of epsom salt in a glass of water will do the same, if the MCT powder doesn’t work. It tastes horrible and you should not do it more than a couple times per month. But it will clean you out.

Well I figured 6 months was enough adaptation. And why would it be that the moment I eat shit food and “regulsr” food Imback to normal?

Also most bowel movements are regular non painful. Which I figured was awesome till I’d have IBS attacks where for 8 hours I was convulsing on the toilet in indescribable pain emptying my bowels. My conclusion would be my bowels are backed up and they force released. Before ketothat would happen maybe 2 or 3 times a year. Keto it was happening once every 3 weeks.

I do mct oil daily just to get my fats up. And I even upper salt and took up to 1000mg of mag citrate…no effect lol. It’s like my bowels hate keto or something. But you could be right and maybe I simply need to stick to one thing for 3 or more months. Just seems like an awful lot of time to possibly find out something foesnt work haha. It’s extremely discouraging

I found a magnesium powder that really helps called Calm. It also gets rid of my leg cramps at night. I drink a large glass of water with a heaping tsp. Of the powder before bed. Problem solved.

Is this a diverticulitis situation maybe?

my hubby has it and only sometimes when he eats whatever, no telling when he will get nailed…it is very painful and had the convulsing symptoms and all you had. It isn’t a ongoing thing, it is an ‘attack can happen’ when it just does kinda thing for him.

just wondering on it.

also, maybe a total elimination menu. Do carnivore and stick to it. Not 'dirty carnivore for 2 months, but real carnivore for 2 months…but at least if you start to feel more normal than you can add back in foods and see how they effect you on an experiment. Jumping around you can’t narrow down food effects on you at all. Only thru that tight experiment of elimination for a while, then add back can you find real results that suit you personally.
