Back Pain from weight loss

#1

I’ve noticed since I’ve lost weight fairly quickly I’ve had some back pain. Less cushion of muscle/fat to protect the spine/neck? Most of the men in my family have somewhat of a stocky build.

Might think about hitting up the chiropractor. You were use to having the weight pulling down and now that it’s not there, your back might need to get readjusted. Idk if that’s right but makes sense to me

Have you been doing anything to build muscle in your back/core?

Yes I do rows, deadlifts, and pullups. Also did some yoga that relieved the pain temporarily. I think a big part of it is posture and time spent sitting at the computer.

I have a stand up and walking job. The times when I have to sit for a long period or longer project really hurts my back. I sympathize.

Can you stand while you work? Or at home, I sit on an exercise ball, it helps.

Funny you should say that now - I’ve been having to be really careful with how I move in the last week or two after losing about 15kg in three months. I’ve had issues with it before (mostly from a chronic C2/3 injury giving referred problems) but it seems a lot worse with LESS to carry around. I was wondering if it was just not coping with the load redistribution

I’ve been using a hard-foam roller for it (also for my calves, which are playing up with really hard spots on the outside near the top) but I’m not sure it’s helping. Sure hurts when using it, though…

Yes, I’m a big fan of the standing desk to switch it up once in a while. This is an unusual pain though that I think has to do with weight loss.

Yes, hopefully it is temporary. With having less weight on the back, I would think it would be a relief long term.

I DO know what you mean. I have back issues from multiple myeloma but since I’ve started to slim down I find myself pulling my shoulder blades back and standing up straighter. I think my lazy back is not used to this and it becomes fatigued easily. I have also been getting a mid-lower back ache and sometimes I wonder if it’s kidney pain…

I figure I’ve got less visceral fat, and so my core needs to do more work as a result. #seesmoreplankinginthefuture

Awe
Good to know!
Thanks
I have a couple in my ever increasing Amazon Shopping Cart of mostly junk
”One mans junk is another mans treasures”
Haha

Soooooo…many pretty colors to choose from for the foam rollers🤔
I’m sticking w that for not buying one yet

Back to the OP
Been noticing some lower back pain as well
Frustrating😡
Trying some more stretching

Now, I’m just trying to decide what color, if the pink or red foam roller will help to alleviate some back pain?
Maybe blue?
I want the best results
Ugh
Not sure what color is better
Tough decisions😆

Red for you, Tinky Wink.

If you’re just using the roller to lay on and not rolling on it, you can just roll up a towel to lay on.
Also found that if you sit in a chair, cross one leg sit up straight and turn to and lean towards the knee that’s in the air for 30-60 seconds then switch legs seems to help me for a while. It stretches the si joint found some good stretching videos on YouTube

2-3 walks weekly, resistance band exercises, and this core workout have been an amazing combination for my back health. https://youtu.be/dJlFmxiL11s

I need a nap just from watching that guy

I could barely get through the first few exercises in the beginning now I can run the video 2 times continuous if I so choose. I broke my L1 in 2012 and this has really helped me maintain my core strength.
