Gastroenteritis. Nurse recommended BRAT (bananas, rice, applesauce, toast). Recommended against anything fatty or spicy (which is basically my diet… fatty spice like chorizo).

I’m just finishing dealing with gastritis & duodenitis myself. They recommended the same diet to me. Granted, what worked for me may not work for you but I felt amazingly better inside of a day or two by removing all plant matter from my diet. Fats, meats/my normal diet have caused no distress since the change. To be specific: I was diagnosed after an endoscopy.
Maybe cut back somewhat on the spices, and increase the fat? I’d become diabetic on the diet your nurse suggested!
I need to be braver when talking to healthcare providors about ketosis. It’s just not a “first date” sort of subject.
I’m not sure about cutting back on spices. I seem to have a chemical dependence on paprika. That could be a sign that it’s actually an allergen and I need to do AIP to rule the problem out. A few years ago, every time I ate anything I felt horrible, except for cajun spiced chicken wings. I started putting Tony Chachere’s on everything, and felt better ever since. Maybe it’s just a coincidence, or maybe it’s just that I need more salt, but I use Tony Chachere’s Cajun seasoning mix as my panacea.
