Hey guys, been on keto almost 7 months and down 76 lbs and 14 inches in waist and 18 iniches in my upper thighs. Even lost a shoe size. Question is what about body odor. I smell like a bottle of cheap gin. Have tried numerous deodorant and anti persperants to no avail. I run mid to mid high ketosis. Besides showering 3-4 times a day are there any ideas.

I’ve noticed that same problem when I haven’t been drinking as much water as usual. I usually get in 3-4 litres daily. On busy days I may not get as much in and I notice that stink the next day.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #3

My body odor is a lot more pleasant that it used to be, but that’s probably more from age than from diet . . .

I agree with drinking more water. I notice I use different smelling soap and shampoos now, too. It’s like different scents compliment my body ph or something now than they used to. In the beginning when I felt like I smelled gross I carried around spray on Crystal deodorant spray. It neutralizes odor to nothing while you’re out and can’t get a shower.

Yes I thought maybe age was why I smelled worse and also body size. I am still 354 lbs and I am 63 . Maybe not enough water and too much coffee and oolong tea.

Can you find this in a store or just online.

I’ve seen it at my local drug store, Walgreens and Kroger. And online.

I was thinking about on of the crystals and using a small piece in a baggie thanks for the info,

I’ve noticed since starting Keto I tend to stink when I wake up as if I ran a marathon while I was sleeping, I’m not sure why. Everyone says that only stress sweat smells but I don’t think I’m stressed in my sleep but maybe I’m burning fat?

I think I am burning fat I have a lot of wrinkles and when I brush my teeth my under arm fat waves and cheers me on. I used to tell people to get fat to stop wrinkles but my wrinkles are multiplying.

(squirrel-kissing paper tamer) #11

Yup. I have some wrinkles now that there’s not a canopy of fat underneath keeping them plumped up. It’s a trade-off!

Right on, Rick - you are doing something really GOOD for yourself here. :slightly_smiling_face:

There are a huge number of compounds/molecules that are fat-soluble, and that we retain in fat after we ingest them. When we’re getting rid of the fat, that same stuff comes out, and I think that in some people it literally comes out through the skin to some extent, as well as perhaps altering the environment for bacteria - that then grow faster and/or produce different waste products.

It seems to vary with the individual, and some people also report a change in it. Some experience it less as they get smaller or the rate of fat loss declines. Some didn’t notice it until they had already lost a significant amount of weight.

It’s temporary, BO will normalize eventually!
