Apologies…i meant to post in the other thread.
Carry on people x.
In brutal honesty, it sounds like you need to forget about keto or any other specific WOE and just eat anything and everything that you can digest just to give your body some fuel.
yes it’s correct. I had an exploratory laparotomy which has possibly left with me adhesions which cause great discomfort after eating. Adhesions basically are your intestines can’t move freely and contract to push things through because they are adhering to internal scar tissue. I have possibly found a doctor who can help with this.
I don’t do well mentally with carbs, that’s why im trying to gain weight with keto. I do realize I need to gain weight as much as I can, but I’d still like to lessen the discomfort if possible.
I only looked at the goal weight last time and considered it a bit low but well, it’s okay for some fragile ones.
But 60lbs?! Eat whatever you can with the least discomfort!!!
Oh! Your situation is so unique that our normal advice is probably not going to be a fit. And with all of your medical issues, we could inadvertently lead you astray and make things worse.
I sincerely hope you find the solution and relief you deserve!
I take all suggestions with consideration of my medical issues. I have found a bit of comfort in this forum and peoples responses.
For example, you go online and the search engines tell you you only need 35-45 G protein per day and make it seem like 100g is going to poison you. But I found out on here that it’s ok to eat that much and perhaps needed.
There was a time when I did OMAD peanut butter. Same amount of calories as now, but I was gaining weight and muscle (while developing b12, vitamin a retinol deficiencies etc ). Somehow the protein and fat of the pb seemed to absorb better than the fish and all of the avocado and raw nuts. I much prefer the diet of the latter. I guess I’ll just work on upping it all and doing whatever I can to get it absorb and digest better.
Oily fish, healthy nuts like almond, walnut and macadamia (macadamia are expensive).
And dairy, cream, if you can? And eggs with mayo- you probably can if you tried?
Best of luck- I hope I haven’t been ignorant here.
Yeah I saw ridiculous numbers too but there are way bigger ones too and anyway, 35-45g is obviously wrong as it’s impossible to do for someone who needs to eat some decent amount of food without pretty much ignoring almost all food and just eat fat or sugary stuff but that’s not really nutritious. Once I wondered and calculated and found out that I must avoid all animal protein sources, all plant protein sources and maybe then I can go that low… If it’s impossible to do with normal food, it sounds quite wrong to me.
But I frequented some pretty okay amateur bodybuilder forum and I get my 1-2g/kg for LBM (fat just doesn’t need a lot of extra protein so I never ever would use full bodyweight. it brings some insane numbers for some people) from there. And it makes perfect sense. It’s how one easily automatically eat. It’s already a problem if one needs to track to eat even remotely okay. I just track out of curiosity and to balance out my old overeating. Forcing myself to some insane numbers that I instinctively hate? No, that must be wrong. And look at all the normal food, how even health-conscious people eat (okay, many of them eat wrong but look at different styles, successful people)… They can’t go that low unless they eat little or in a weird way.
Maybe my instinctive high protein eating colors my glasses, likely but still, 35g protein? That’s super tiny. I had a small lunch using the only really good food for me for satiation and health, 90 protein. And I saw people eating food, I know how food looks like. It has protein, not a tiny amount and it actually is needed if one looks around and read.
There are so many dietary things that is super hard to figure out because information is all over the place, we can’t find facts, it’s individual very much… But protein need isn’t that hard. I met this 1-2g/kg in very many places. And the super low numbers in questionable places. And as I wrote, I used normal food and my natural instincts and behaviour too, it’s something not everyone can do as many people is able to eat low protein for some weird reason.
But I wrote about this too much, I tend to do that.
I hope you find your way and gain! Both fat and muscle.
