I made some Avocado Oil Mayonaise today and well it tastes better than the Primal Kitchen Avocado oil mayo I bought a year ago. I used yellow mustard, lemon juice, salt & white pepper along with the oil & egg. One thing I immediately noticed when compared to the soybean mayo I have been eating is it wasn’t as sweet… looked at the ingredients on the soybean oil mayo and sure enough sugar was in it despite it saying it had zero carbs per 1 tbsp serving. I like the taste of the mayo better without the sugar I think. I could always add 1 drop of liquid stevia to the avocado oil mayo if i wanted it slightly sweet.

I hope Mark Sisson and Co all die wealthy (not anytime soon!) But I don’t care for their Avocado Mayo AT ALL! I’ve tried twice…threw them both out.
I thought I must have gotten a bad batch the first time, or maybe it went off somehow. But they have it at our Wichita Kansas Costco now (YAY COSTCO !!) so I tried it again.
Not even close… threw it directly in the dumpster. My Avo Mayo is Soooooo much better!
Out Costco also has SWERVE now! Granular only, but it’s a testimony to how things are changing!
Yeah, I just tasted my homemade this morning after it chilled overnight… oh my… so thick & creamy with good flavor! Oil tastes pretty neutral and the subtle flavor it does give is pleasing! Tastes like real mayonaise! I used the cheapest great value avocado oil (didn’t say it was refined) – hope that was ok… was like $7.47 for 25.5 oz. If anyone knows of better one for cheaper let me know!
Anyone know of a consistently good tasting brand of Avocado oil? I bought Great Value Avocado Oil (from Walmart) for the first time a few weeks back and it tasted excellent. I just bought another Great Value bottle today and well it tastes horribly rancid! Grr… Can anyone recommend a consistently good tasting brand which is affordable? Does Trader Joe’s sell it? I am going to try Trader Joe’s California Estate Olive Oil because I just read that it is good.
I have the problem of hating lime flavor, and almost every commercial avocado oil mayo I find either throws an obligatory “hint” of lime, or a stupid amount of rosemary oil. I dislike both. I ended up dropping 10 bucks on a bottle of cold pressed avocado oil and just made my own. No lime. No rosemary. Took 5 minutes and wasnt too bad.
All the recipes for mayo Ive seen use only the yoke and not the egg white so why use any whole egg?
I use avocado oil mayo–and I don’t taste avocado at all. To me, it’s the best of the ‘good oil’ mayos.
If you mashed up whole avocados in it most people would not specifically taste avocado because they are so mild tasting anyway. OK maybe I’m exaggerating just a little :o)
