Thanks for all the ideas, suggestions and pointers everyone!
Well, here in Britain, it’s been “Pancake Tuesday” (the day before Ash Wednesday). I did think about trying to make an almond pancake, but in the end I was too lazy! (Might do it later in the week though).
I didn’t attempt to talk my wife out of making herself a conventional pancake. Well, it’s only once a year. 
(But I couldn’t talk her into making an almond one, either…).
