Article about Life without Sugar

(Susan) #1

When I openned my browser to come on here; this came up in the news feed. I thought it was interesting for the forum; especially since most of us have no sugar in our lives as well, and also because it shows how google is tracking me, showing me things I might be interested in… grrr (I already knew this but this verifies it more for me).

Nice article!

And yes, we are tracked everywhere. My favorite is when I go to a football forum board and the ad at the top is for yarn! Not too many who follow football on a forum board also knit… so definitely being tracked. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I get a lot about dieting, and weight loss, Keto/Paleo ads… so it lets me know for sure I am being tracked! haha.

This is really funny (I mean, it’s really scary - but in this case it’s also funny… I had this image of a group of frat-boy types sitting on a sofa watching football and knitting )

Everywhere I go these days I get asked for a survey. Like, how was your trip to Sainsbury’s?!
I’m sure there is a way to set your preferences and privacy, but I’m not sure how!

I like how she states:

”In my new life, I don’t eat foods with added sugar.”

That’s pretty telling coming from a biologist?

When I was on FB I always got ads for Singles Over 50 with photos of silver foxes smiling at me. I still don’t understand why!

Yesterday I had a cattleman’s steak for breakfast. It was wearing a 150g local double brie hat. To melt that cheese down I dropped two fried eggs on top. Poured a black coffee and listened to Dr. Malcom Kendrick pull apart the heart lipid hypothesis. All the while thinking Dr. Peter Attia sounds a bit too smug as he clings to his LDL. Then went and dug four holes in the sun and had a swim in an ocean lagoon, a cold, pristine one. I forgot to add sugar.

If you don’t want to be tracked switch your search engine to Duck Duck Go. I find it does have a couple of downfalls. You do get better searches that are often more relevant to keto than google, where you get lots of anti-keto. If you keep altering your search parameters new searches with articles you just read aren’t highlighted. Also when you back arrow to the search list there’s no highlighting of articles you’ve already checked. So no tracking has it’s downfalls too. You’re still bombed with ads anyways, they’re just more random. At least your info isn’t being sold and bought. :cowboy_hat_face:
