Out of my own curiosity, I want to know how many women post and how many men Why? I don’t know, just curious if women use the boards more I guess. So, here’s my very unscientific way to find out

- Female

I’m a donut. I clicked on Male… so flubbed that up pretty good. will just remember to add/subtract me from the results.
Ha!
I’m female. I have a feeling this will lean male though because the high fat part can be harder for women to accept in my experience.
I checked male but if it was a slider instead of an either/or proposition I’d probably score somewhere around 70% male on the feminity/masculinity spectrum.
I have gynecomastia - the development of feminine breast tissue. It is a defining clinical symptom of my genetic neuromuscular disease, SBMA. And the reason why the genetic cause of my disease was easily found. It is a mutation in the gene which produces the androgen receptor protein causing this protein to fold differently. Much biological signaling has a lock and key type mechanism. A lock such as androgen receptor is present in the breast tissue and the key, in this case androgens such as testosterone bind to the receptor to trigger an effect - the suppression of development of the tissue. A misfolded receptor protein is like having a damaged lock, the binding of the unlocking key protein is impaired and thus in my case despite having high testosterone beyond the reference range, in many tissues not just the breasts the signaling effect is diminished. In skeletal muscle tissue where testosterone promotes the development of bulky fast twitch muscle fiber my muscle composition is feminine with a preponderance of slow twitch fiber,
I bring this all up as a concrete example of the sexuality spectrum. Most anyone who pays it any attention is aware of very feminine women, very masculine men and people of every sort in between. We have an entire chromosome pair of sex linked genes and with so many genes (and many mutations) involved in sexuality it makes more sense to think of it as a sex spectrum despite our cultural tendency to think of it as two completely separate boxes that we each must be fit into.
I don’t mean this as an attack on the original post/poll, but took it merely as an opportunity to hopefully slightly increase enlightenment on an important although sometimes contentious and confusing topic.
All my shoes are men’s and all my underwear is women’s. I’m torn.
Hi @MKChitown, perhaps you could add a third choice (eg. “Fluid” or “Prefer not to say”) for people who don’t clearly identify with either of these options?
I have no idea how to edit it, but what I can do is just close it. I got the gist of what I was looking for.
