Are chicken necks fatty?

I’ve seen chicken necks sold online from pastured farms and I am wondering are they fatty? I had turkey neck a long time ago at thanksgiving but I was a kid. They are very dark meat but that’s all I know.

These links suggests they’re rather “fatty” …

How this compares to other parts of the chicken? I’ll leave this comparison for others to dredge up.

I don’t find them to be so. But who am I to argue, I just have my taste buds.

I’d say yes, fat to meat ratio is high, but bone to fat-and-meat ratio is much higher! Meat on a neck is tiny, tasty little bits.

(You've tried everything else; why not try bacon?) #5

The supermarkets in my area still sell whole chickens with the neck, heart, gizzard, and liver tucked inside. As @kib1 mentions, the neck is mostly bone, with very little flesh. I am partial to the gizzard, myself.

They are but I don’t think most be people eat them. They’re great in broth though.

I always eat them. Yum.

Chicken and turkey neck go to my dogs.

I definitely eat worse than most people’s dogs here but I still eat very well
I find meaty bones fun but chicken necks are tiny. Turkey necks are better, lots of meat there as the whole thing is bigger. Still barely ever eat it but it’s a nice thing to have for me. My SO hates bony parts so he doesn’t eat any. It works well

Necks aren’t particularly fatty but it’s possible, just look at it. I saw duck necks with huge amounts of visible fat if I remember… Chicken, not so much but of course they aren’t the same either.
