Are there any really good apps for keeping track of macros?
Apps anyone
Cronometer is my personal favorite. I don’t track anymore but, they have the best database for accuracy. Not that they are 100% accurate but, you’re not going to find 50 entries for a boiled egg with a bunch of different macros for each.
I do have the fitness pal but I’m not sure how accurate it is … its giving some funky info on the carb count
I like Carb Manager enough to bump up to premium level so I could see micronutrients too, mainly sodium. Most of what I scan is in there, lots of flexibility
All the apps have both official databases e.g. from the USDA, manufacturers, restaurants, etc. AND they have user entered data, which is mainly BS, full of typos’ and lacking the macro information since most people who enter things only care about the kcals.
All the main apps, Cronometer, MFP and LoseIt suffer from this problem and require you to pick the validated data and not the user gen stuff if you want a reasonable representation of your macros. LoseIt has green ticks/checks against the validated data, not sure how the others differentiate, though it gets pretty obvious after a while of using them. Cronometer seems to have the best data for micronutrients but it is more incomplete than the macro data.
Not to change the subject, but to add to it: What’s your fav fasting app?
I use MyFast on IOS, it’s not bad (and it’s free) but I’d like something that shows both fasting windows & eating windows for IF, such as 16:8. With MyFast, it only tracks fasting times.
I like MyNetDiary, it has the option to track net carbs only so I use that function.
Theres a lot of contributed foods by other users but I never use those, I always use the database and if I can’t find the item then I add it myself and I won’t add anything that I can’t read the macro details of.
I have such a hard time remembering to track but when I do I have been using Carb Manager.
Ive been using Stupid Simple Keto.
I tried MyFitnessPal but there was some free style macro tracking that they didnt allow you to do without paying for the premium membership (which was a monthly fee). Stupid Simple Keto is super nice, simple interface, and its only a $10 purchase for the full version.
