Anyone try these?

#1

Came across this ice cream in Kroger’s- wondering if there are opinions about it. Haven’t tried it myself- yet.

My wife cooked up these noodles with hamburger and spaghetti sauce- i was working late and only got a few leftover bites- was pretty good and went over well with our kids. Any opinions- can that be zero carbs? 5gm total - 5gm fiber = 0 net??

Oh yeah- on the ice cream- is that math true?

Subtract fiber and erythritol from total for net?

Takes a little prep, but I like the konjac noodles. I make “fried rice” out of Miracle Rice. I’ve had spaghetti, and fettuccine Alfredo. It’s all soluble fiber, so 0 net carbs.

Correct.

That’s cool!

The ice cream tastes great, but…

  1. It has “cane sugar” and “Corn starch” in it. They could have just gone 1 step further and eliminated both! The manufacturer missed an opportunity.

  2. It has some corn fiber in it. Best of luck with digestion  If you’ve had issues with Quest bars, you may have issues with these.

  3. This ice cream is a trigger food for me. It is low fat (from ‘skim milk’) so you really don’t feel satiated on it. The sugar is addicting, and although I intend to stop at 1/4 or 1/2, it ends up being the whole thing! I’ve tried a number of times, and I just can’t seem to stop eating once it’s open. So, that means it can’t come into my home anymore, except very rarely. Buyer’s beware! It could set you back.

I enjoy konjac pasta. Yes, 0 net carbs.

For best results, rinse and drain thoroughly, and then dry it to make it more like the spaghetti, etc., that we’re used to. You dry it by sauteing or microwaving until the translucence is gone and the rinse water has evaporated.

I used to skip this step, but it does make it better, and some people are turned off by the smell and/or texture if you don’t do the drying thing.

Eleven net carbs in half a cup of ice cream? That seems like a lot. I used to make ice cream with cream, water, unflavored gelatin, sweetener, and whatever flavor I was going for. Sometimes I used flavored gelatin, which already has sweetener and flavor. Orange Jello + vanilla = Creamsicle flavor! Sorry I can’t remember the exact recipe. Anyway it was easy, with no sugar, no starch, etc.

I wish someone would make a full fat sugar free icecream. There would be a market for it for sure.
They are all low fat. :persevere:
I won’t waste my money or my carbs on that junk.

I hear you on #3. :grinning:
Maybe I’ll hold out for now.

Tx!

Thanks for the tips! :grinning:

You can subtract another 5 for erythritol

#12

Rebel Creamery makes a full fat ice cream. https://rebelcreamery.com/pages/about

#13

Yeah- I’ve heard that.
I would like to try that.

I may have heard something about this on the forum or something. I will definitely look into making a request at my grocery stores. This would be a nice treat and maybe a way to sway my icecream loving crew to go keto.

#15

You can order direct from their website!

(Wendy) #16

Yeah but I don’t want to get that much at once and it’s expensive. Well see if I can find others around me who would like to divide an order.

Why does erythritol count as carbs?

(Lonnie Hedley) #18

It doesn’t. It’s subtracted from carbs. Total carbs - (fiber + sugar alcohols) = net carbs.

(Carpe salata!) #19

Yep. And BODMAS

I’ve lost count of the amount of mathematics courses I’ve taken. Better safe than sorry when making calculations.
