Anyone tried Dave Feldman protocol?

(Jase) #1

Hi anyone tried Dave Feldman protocol. Got blood test this week and trying his 3 day high calorie approach. What to eat to achieve macro ratios to give 5000 calories? Really difficult. After 2 days of bacon eggs avocados macadamias sausages steak butter duck pate etc I don’t want to eat anymore…! Still only just over 4000. Any comments?

I don’t think you need to get to 5000, just get well over your normal eating and definitely beyond satiety. I think you’re good.

I’m only going on my recall of the 2kd podcast with Dave presenting.

Thanks for info Peter. Will check it out.

I just listened to that podcast. He definitely wants you to try to replicate his exact protocol. But the 5000 calorie thing seems kind of arbitrary. I think what we’re looking for a signal to the body that it has plenty of calories available. If you are unable to eat anymore, you’re probably there.

Here is the protocol: http://cholesterolcode.com/extreme-cholesterol-drop-experiment/

@DaveKeto Any comments?

No – you do not need to eat to 5000 calories – it’s just what I ate. Find whatever your top level is and shoot for that. It could be 4000 or even 2000, whatever is well above your maintenance calories. Note it shouldn’t be at a level that literally makes you fell ill or naucous. But it should be at the level where you really get tired of eating food.

Thanks again all.good information.

Several of us did it at ketofest, I was around 2500 calories the first day, and struggled to eat at all the second. I still saw a big change

Impressed! Followed the 3 day protocol. Compared to previous results in last couple years, HDl went through the roof, triglycerides dropped below minimum and LDL just crept into ‘normal’ range. Doc said I don’t know what your doing but it’s bloody good! No mention of statin after that!

I have a Blood Test in 2 weeks at the VA. I intend to do the 3 day build up, and avoiding all oils as it was mentioned as a cofounder. My previous blood test 4 weeks ago show my numbers are creeping up but I have only been on KETO for 6 weeks. Any best practices are always appreciated.

I think Dave Feldman comments earlier in the thread are key. I avoided excess coconut oils although did have half teaspoon in my coffee each morning. I was very low carb aswell. Lots of cheese meat eggs butter avocado and macadamia nuts. Only water for 14 hours before blood test.

Not yet but I am getting ready. Dad_Bode, noticed you mentioned the VA, I go to the VA as well. How did you test go? What are the results?

John

@Dad_Bode, I would like to hear this as well, because I’m going to do the protocol next week (Oct ‘18). Looking for recent participants for “what to eat” advice, but if you can recall what you ate, I’d like to hear it.

I attempted to increase fat intake. I was only able to make it to about 3,500 calories, my normal intake it about 2,000 calories because I usually only have two meals a day, 2pm and 6pm. I had to add a breakfast to get more calories.

Here is a blood test before and after trying to increase fat intake:

Test Name 11-Sep-18 24-Sep-18
CHOLESTEROL 244 219
TRIGLYCERIDES 70 69
HDL CHOLESTEROL 40 45
LDL, CALCULATED 204 160

So, my total Cholesterol decreased, my Triglycerides were already pretty low for me, HDL improved and LDL went down, so I would say it worked but now I have to find out how to change my LDL particle count and size, most my LDLs are small particles. This test was the first time I found out my LDL particle count and size so I have nothing to compare it to, LDL-P is 2395 and my small LDL-P is 1268. LDL size 20.6. HDL-P is 24.5.

I have a feeling that’s a matter of KCKO and time for your body to clear them out; maybe some EF to kick in more autophagy? If you find a specific protcol, I’m sure folks would be interested in a topic covering it, especially if you have some numbers later to show it’s working!

I personally can’t afford to get those kind of tests done (well, maybe once, but not multiple times for comparison), so I’m going to stick to monitoring my HDL:Trig ratio & get a baseline CAC.

I was going to use Dave’s techniques only to get the best result I could so that I don’t get a lecture on statins, which I refuse to take.

But I think all of these are meaningless. My understanding is that CAC is the best indicator.

I think doctor has determined the real causes of heart disease:

His thread on this is up to 55 posts, though. His theory explains everything, even what no one else’s can explain.
